Back to top Program aims This program involves the study of eight units of course work at the undergraduate level to provide enhanced understanding of basic issues and principles in the human services environment and, through elective studies, the acquisition of associated skills and conceptual frameworks. In vocational terms it would provide a foundation program for people wishing to work in community organisations or community development with marginalised groups in Australian society. Completion of this program does not provide students with a professional qualification in community development, human services, social work or psychology.

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (Honours) program provides students with the educational requirements to become a professional planner and the ability to undertake postgraduate studies. The program equips students with a core of theoretical, scientific, analytical, managerial, professional, research and communication skills that will permit them to undertake an in-depth study of the fundamental science and practice of Urban and Regional Planning. The program provides students with sufficient knowledge of urban and regional planning to be eligible to gain employment, certification and, where appropriate, registration as a professional planner. In addition, students obtain knowledge of the natural, legal, commercial, industrial and social environments in which they will function as professionals. The program instils in students the need for continuing professional development and is designed to identify, and award honours to, students who have the capacity to undertake study at an advanced level and to make an original contribution to the fundamental science and practice of urban and regional planning. Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Spatial Science Technology program equips students with a core of basic technical, scientific, analytical, business administration and communication skills that will permit them to undertake further study of the science and practice of spatial science in one of two fields: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or Surveying. The program provides students with sufficient knowledge of surveying, spatial information systems or urban and regional planning to be eligible to gain employment, certification and, where appropriate, registration as a Graduate Surveyor or GIS Spatial Scientist. In addition, students obtain knowledge of the natural, legal, commercial, industrial and social environments in which they will function as professionals. The program instils in students the need for continuing professional development and gives them the ability to adapt to change.

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science (BSES) program aims to allow students to develop or extend their knowledge and expertise to meet personal achievement goals or provide for career opportunities within the health, exercise, sports and fitness industry such as exercise scientists, sports scientists, strength and conditioning coaches, sports and recreation development officers, sports performance directors or a range of other roles.

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science (Honours) (Clinical Exercise Physiology) aims to allow students to develop or extend their knowledge and expertise to meet personal achievement goals or provide for career opportunities within the health, sports and fitness industry such as sports coaches, sports development officers, sports performance directors or a range of other roles. The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science (Honours) (Clinical Exercise Physiology) specifically provides for graduates to obtain ESSA qualification as an accredited exercise physiologist.

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Science (Honours) aims to begin the training of students as research scientists in a variety of scientific disciplines including applied mathematics/statistics, biology, chemistry, environment and sustainability, computing, physics and psychology. Successful completion of the psychology major enables graduates to register with the Psychology Board of Australia. Graduates who achieve a high level of Honours (either First Class or Second Class division A) would be eligible to apply for a Masters program or PhD at USQ and other universities.
