Bachelor of Paramedicine (BPSC)

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Paramedicine provides the graduate with the nursing knowledge and skills to apply to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for registration as a Registered Paramedic. To gain registration as a paramedic, graduates of this program will also have to satisfy registration criteria of the Paramedicine Board of Australia. To gain registration, applicants will also have to meet standards in English language skills, criminal history, and professional indemnity insurance. To maintain registration, paramedics are also required to meet standards of Continuing Professional Development and Recency of Practice. All of these standards can be found on the Paramedicine Board of Australia website. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) will keep a register of students enrolled in the Bachelor of Paramedicine for the duration of their study or clinical training. USQ as the education provider will pass on students' details directly to the Paramedicine Board of Australia (PBA) for registration. No fees are required.

Bachelor of Nursing (BNSG)

To gain registration as a nurse, graduates of this program will also have to satisfy registration criteria of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. To gain registration, applicants will also have to meet standards in English language skills, criminal history, and professional indemnity insurance. To maintain registration, nurses are also required to meet standards of Continuing Professional Development and Recency of Practice. Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS)

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science aims to provide education, training professional practice experience for medical scientists to service the public and private pathology laboratory industry. A secondary aim is to provide graduates who will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to play a role in the biomedical field including research, technical, advisory and commercial roles.

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Midwifery (Graduate Entry) aims to prepare midwives who meet current and future requirements of contemporary midwifery practice. This program is designed according to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) National Competency Standards for the Midwife (2006). Graduates will possess a range of skills to work autonomously and where appropriate, with other members of the inter-professional team in a variety of maternity settings or models of care. Graduates will be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

This program focuses on the effective analysis development and management of information and communication technologies in organisations. The program’s foundation is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills in key areas of IT as well as professionally relevant knowledge, qualities and skills in such areas as problem solving, project management, teamwork, communication and ethics.

Back to top Program aims This program aims to provide an enhanced understanding of the basic issues, principles and human services paradigms in the social and community sector together with skills and theoretical frameworks for people interested in becoming human services professionals in the community and non-government sector. Particular major and minor studies will focus on competencies required for employment in these roles. The program affords the opportunity to engage in specialised study of marginalised groups.

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Health (Honours) aims to commence the research training of students from a variety of health related disciplines including sport and exercise, paramedicine, biomedical science, medical laboratory science, human services, nursing and midwifery. Graduates who achieve a high level of Honours (either First Class or Second Class division A) would be eligible to apply for a Masters’ program, PhD or Doctor of Health at USQ and other universities.

Back to top Program aims The Bachelor of Engineering Science is a tertiary level program designed to educate engineering technologists in the theory, methods and practices necessary to function as an engineering technologist. It is also designed so that students are eligible for graduate membership of Engineers Australia (as an Engineering Technologist) and other appropriate professional bodies. To this end, the program is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of specialist bodies of knowledge of a branch of engineering practice, appropriate to those functioning at engineering technologist level with the personal, professional, and technical knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to practice within an appropriate social, cultural, industrial and environmental context.
