Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media

Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Sound Production)

The objective of this program is to prepare you to use wide-ranging analytical, technical, creative, conceptual and managerial skills in your chosen field in the music and sound production industries. On the completion of this program you will have developed a broad knowledge base along with the ability to specialise in specific areas of the industries. You will be able to work effectively, either independently or as a member of a group. The Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Sound Production) builds on skills attained through industry experience or formal study and will enable you to develop relevant technical management skills required by a rapidly changing industry.In the Advanced Diploma you will explore areas such as sound for film, television and online / multimedia productions, as well as advanced mixing concepts including surround sound technology. Music recording and mixing principles are applied in advanced mixing concepts and mastering.The program includes the study of project management and production management, which will prepare you, as a member of the industry, to be familiar with stage and event management skills required to manage touring artists or media events. The practical component includes staging and recording a number of live performances. The Business and Marketing courses will include the systems management and promotion for these performances at established professional venues, giving you the skills to undertake this professionally as an individual or a member of a company. As the program year progresses, the focus becomes more practical, and you will be spending more time in the studios, recording and mixing music in stereo and surround, as well as sound for film and television.

Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts

The Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts reflects the role of independent professional visual arts practitioners who have a command of wide-ranging, highly specialised technical, creative and conceptual skills and knowledge. These skills allow practitioners to extend and refine their practice to a point where they are able to originate, realise and exhibit a substantial body of resolved work that expresses their individual creative vision. The advanced diploma is a more specialised qualification than the Diploma and signifies skill and knowledge of a greater complexity and a higher level of personal accountability.Visual arts practice at this level is underpinned by a sound grasp of art theory and history and the ability to critically analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources. Discourse and communication around complex ideas are also required. Deepening skills acquired in the Diploma course, graduates of the Advanced Diploma will have the ability to engage in critical discourse and with a range of theoretical concepts and historical perspectives.This program prepares individuals who wish to pursue a career as visual artists or in other creative positions (such as roles in government bodies, museums, galleries and educational and cultural institutions) in the arts.
