The Associate Degree in Legal Practice (Paralegal) is an innovative program that focuses on developing high-level legal skills for you as a paralegal in the legal industry. In this program you will develop practical legal skills in addition to being able to identify and analyse legal concepts and principles. You will develop skills in case analysis, legal research, file management, preparing court documents, legal writing and drafting, interview and negotiation skills, together with an awareness of legal, professional and social responsibilities.Throughout the program, you will be exposed to a variety of learning experiences which include lectures and tutorials, role plays, court visits and industry presentations. Embedded in the program are the skills and knowledge to enable you to practice and expand your learning experience through Work Integrated Learning (WIL).In the final year of the program the capstone course, LAW2494 Professional Skills and Responsibility will provide you the opportunity to reflect on and consolidate what you have learnt through the management of client files in a simulated legal office. In addition, there is the opportunity to undertake an Internship as your elective course in your final semester.The Associate Degree in Legal Practice (Paralegal) provides opportunities for entry into a wide range of legal careers in legal practices, banks, insurance companies or other public and private organisations with in-house legal departments. For those of you already employed in the legal industry, it will offer you the opportunity to further develop your existing skills and knowledge.This program is available for delivery on-campus only.

Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology

The Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology will provide you with a broad range of knowledge and skills related to the business of fashion design, to prepare you to work in a professional role within the fashion design and technology industry or for further study.The program will deliver broad theoretical and technical knowledge enabling you to work within the fashion industry supply chain from design to creation of your designs. You will be involved in industry activities and projects where you will engage with fashion industry leaders giving you experience to develop your work-ready capabilities and skills.You will have the flexibility of specialising in one of two streams, Fashion Design or Fashion Knitwear that will cover all industry relevant skills required to work in the fashion industry from design through to production and logistics.In your final year you will undertake a Capstone experience with a major holistic assessment in both streams of the program over three courses GRAP2487 Professional Practice, GRAP2486 Pattern Technology 4 and GRAP2472 Design and Development 4.This capstone is firmly grounded in industry practice and engages in creativity within a commercial context. The project pushes the creative boundaries for the industry partner or partners through experimentation and a focus on possible and imagined future fashion trends. Students should be engaged in reflecting critically on the social, cultural and environmental contexts of the fashion industry and the design process itself. The capstone project draws on and extends knowledge and skills acquired in previous semesters.This program will also prepare you to continue into higher educational studies to further your exploration of concepts and research. Local and global career paths include working as a designer, product developer, garment technician, patternmaker, quality assurance, technical and specification development, supply chain and pathways to production management. There are also opportunities to pursue areas in fashion styling, blogging, and fashion forecasting or launching your own fashion business.

Associate Degree in Fashion and Textile Merchandising

Upon successful completion of the program, you will have gained broad knowledge and skills for paraprofessional work and/or further learning within the fashion and textiles industry. This program will give you theoretical and technical knowledge of specific areas such as product development, supply chain, marketing, CAD/IT, fashion materials,digital strategies for fashion, buying and merchandise planning.You will learn to research, analyse, interpret and transmit solutions to unpredictable and sometimes complex problems. This learning will be applied through project work, case studies and practical assignments. You will also learn how to make judgements and work autonomously with defined responsibility before you apply and implement any actions or recommendations in fashion and textiles business environments. This experience will enable you to synthesise and integrate your knowledge, connect theory and practice, and holistically demonstrate the program learning outcomes.This program will also prepare you for career paths that include a range of areas such as Product Development, Merchandise Management, Merchandise Planning, Allocation Analyst, Retail Management, Brand Management, Digital Marketing, Fashion Marketing and Fashion Logistics. This program will also prepare you to continue into higher education studies to further your exploration of concepts and research.All courses in this program are offered online and remotely.

RMIT will organise this work placement for you.This will enable you to apply the broad range of technical and employability skills that you have acquired during the course of your studies in an actual workplace.The program is delivered on campus at the RMIT City campus. It requires attendance at classes and is delivered in face-to-face mode, supported by a number of blended learning activities.
