STRU-FOODS v.1 Food Science Stream (BSc (Nutrition and Food Science))

The Food Science Stream focuses on the nature and chemical composition of foods, ingredient behaviour under different processing conditions and the application of this knowledge of food science to improve the safety and quality of food. Nutrition and food scientists are also involved in the research and development of new food products and new technologies in the processing of foods. Students will also undertake a work placement with an external organisation which may be a government, research or food industry organisation. Graduates of the Food Science Stream will be eligible to apply for professional membership of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST).

STRU-FOITD v.2 Foundation of Information Technology Stream (Dubai)

The Foundation of Information Technology prepares students for undergraduate study in Information Technology. It has four core units that are common to all Foundation courses: Critical thinking, Research and Writing; Computer Productivity, Mathematical Foundations, and Advanced Critical Thinking, Research and Writing. In the Foundations of Information Technology, students study units in management, project management, programming and mathematical foundations (more advanced than the core unit). This is studied over two study periods. Students who have completed the IBCP and had an Academic IELTS score of 6.0 upon entry may receive advanced standing for four modules. The modules for students with such advanced standing are shown as “Single Trimester” in the streamed version of the Program which includes four modules: Advanced Critical Thinking, Research and Writing, Introduction to Project Management, Introduction to Programming and, Mathematical Foundations III. Pathways to further study: Students who successfully complete the Foundation of Information Technology program will be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science (Computing) (Information Technology stream) available at Curtin Dubai or at the Curtin Bentley campus (Western Australia).

STRU-FOENG v.2 Foundation of Engineering Stream (Dubai)

The Foundation of Engineering prepares students for undergraduate study in Engineering at Curtin Dubai. It has four core units that are common to all Foundation courses: Advanced Critical Thinking, Research and Writing, Critical thinking, Research and Writing; Computer Productivity, and Mathematical Foundations. In the Foundations of Engineering, students study units in chemistry, physics, programming and mathematical foundations (more advanced than the core unit). This is studied over two study periods. Students who have completed the IBCP and had an Academic IELTS score of 6.0 upon entry may receive advanced standing for four modules. The modules for students with such advanced standing are shown as “Single Trimester” in the streamed version of the Program which includes four modules: Advanced Critical Thinking, Research and Writing, Introduction to Physics, Introduction to Chemistry, and Mathematical Foundations III. Pathways to further study: Students who successfully complete the Foundation of Engineering program will be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) available at Curtin Campuses where the course is being offered.

STRU-FMEDD v.1 Foundation of Media Arts Stream (Dubai)

The Foundation of Media and Arts prepares students for undergraduate study in Media or Arts. It has four core units that are common to all Foundation courses: Critical thinking, Research and Writing; Computer Productivity, Mathematical Foundations, and Advanced Critical Thinking, Research and Writing. In the Foundations of Media and Arts stream, students study units in Advanced Critical Thinking, Research and Writing, Media and Psychology as well as being able to select two electives from a prescribed list of units. Students who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Studies and had an Academic IELTS score of 6.0 upon entry may receive advanced standing for four modules. The modules for students with such advanced standing are shown as “Single Trimester” in the streamed version of the Program which include four modules; Advanced Critical Thinking, Research and Writing, Computer Productivity, Introduction to Media and, Fundamentals of Information Technology. Pathways to further study: Students who successfully complete the Foundation of Media and Arts program will be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication) (Web Media and Marketing), available at Curtin Dubai or at the Curtin Bentley campus (Western Australia).

STRU-FBUSD v.1 Foundation of Business Stream

The Foundation of Business stream prepares students for undergraduate study in Business and Commerce. It has four core units that are common to all Foundation courses: Critical Thinking, Research and Writing; Computer Productivity, Mathematical Foundations, and Advanced Critical Thinking, Research and Writing. In this stream students study units in management, marketing, accounting, and project management. This is studied over two study periods. Students who have completed the IBCP and had an Academic IELTS score of 6.0 upon entry may receive advanced standing for four modules. The modules for students with such advanced standing are shown as “Single Trimester” in the streamed version of the Program which includes four modules: Advanced Critical Thinking, Research and Writing, Mathematical Foundations, Introduction to Management, and Introduction to Marketing. Pathways to further study: Students who successfully complete the Foundation of Business program will be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (International Business); Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing); Bachelor of Commerce (Finance); or the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) available at Curtin Dubai or at the Curtin Bentley campus (Western Australia).

Career Opportunities A stream in Restoration leads to employment opportunities in the private and public sectors. STRU-ENRNU v.2 Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Stream (BSc Nursing)

This stream is designed for those intending to practice as a registered nurse who are currently registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) as an AQF Diploma level 5 Enrolled Nurse. This stream is available in semester two only. This course provides a comprehensive program of study involving a diverse range of simulated practice and fieldwork, inter-professional learning, contemporary blended learning, advanced clinical skill development and opportunity for an international study experience. Professional Recognition This course has been designed to meet the regulations of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Students who successfully complete the course requirements are eligible for recommendation by the Head of School to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia for registration as Division 1 comprehensive registered nurses. Registration is subject to meeting all requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. To meet the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia students are expected to complete the enrolled nurse to registered nurse stream within 5 years. Failure to complete the course in the allocated time period may necessitate the completion of additional units to ensure currency of practice. Additional Course Expenses Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks and other essential study materials.
