This stream is designed to build on the professional knowledge and experience of nurses, taking the study of research, evidence informed practice and the biological and behavioural sciences underlying nursing to greater depth. Emphasis is placed upon the development of professional nursing competencies and on enhancing ones capability as a member of an inter-professional team in a changing health care system. The stream will establish a basis for future postgraduate study for specialisation and research. Completion of this stream leads to a Bachelor award but does not lead to registration with the Nurses and Midwives Board in Australia.

This stream will extend a student's knowledge in biochemistry with a specific emphasis in the chemistry field. This stream should be taken concurrently with the Biochemistry Major.

In the Chemical Engineering Stream of the Chemical Engineering Major, students examine the development, design, assessment and management of processes for the production of a wide range of materials. It covers the theory and applications of thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer and reaction engineering. Building on this foundation, students go on to explore process control, synthesis and design, process economics, risk management and safety, and research studies for general chemical processes. This stream includes three slots where students can choose from a list of optional units.

This stream comprehensively covers the breadth of applied geosciences including mineral and petroleum exploration and extraction techniques, groundwater resources and environmental geosciences. Career Opportunities Those completing this stream will be prepared for direct employment in the mineral exploration, mining, petroleum, groundwater and environmental industry or entry into an honours degree in geology.
