MDDU-PSYCH v.1 Psychology Double Degree Major (LLB/BSc)

Accreditation This major is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. A further year of study in psychology is necessary before you can apply for associate membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and provisional registration. This further year of study must be an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited fourth year of study in psychology. After completing this additional year of study, graduates are eligible to apply for associate membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and provisional registration. In Australia two years supervised psychological practice after fourth year or completion of a two-year masters program or a one-year professional masters and one year of supervised psychological practice is required for full registration as a psychologist. Employers in the private and public sectors need people who have the knowledge and flexibility to research, write and publish materials ranging from simple briefing notes to complex reports, dynamic feature articles, speeches, promotions and non-fiction books. This double degree major teaches students professional research and writing techniques across a wide variety of forms, and practical techniques and industry issues in writing and publishing. Skills development and diversity are fostered through the study and practice of a range of different professional writing forms, including feature articles, speeches, reports, discussion papers, travel writing, creative non-fiction, promotional writing and e-zines, as well as the principles of print and electronic publishing, concept development, scheduling, copy and structural editing.

MDDU-MXNCS v.1 Mechatronic Engineering Honours and Computer Science Double Degree Major (BEng Hons/BSc)

Mechatronics is an engineering discipline which deals with studies the integration of mechanical, electronic and computer technologies in a wide range of machines and systems. Mechatronic systems can be found in most industrial machines, many domestic appliances, as well as in intelligent machines such as robots and unmanned aerial vehicles. The Curtin Mechatronic Engineering discipline offers a sound theoretical core in the key disciplines of mechanics, electronics and computer systems, as well as a strong practical emphasis in project and problem based learning units which give a real world focus to theoretical concepts. An additional scientific specialty in Computer Science equips students with skills in programming, algorithms, software engineering, data security and machine learning which will enable further work or research in advanced automation and robotics. Project work is undertaken from the second year onwards, culminating in a major design or research project in the final year of study. Professional Recognition Graduates fulfil the stage one competencies stipulated by Engineers Australia (EAust) as the pathway to chartered-engineer status (CPEng). Career Oppotunities Graduates in Mechatronics and Computer Science are equipped with a broad range of skills and knowledge, facilitating careers in engineering and information technology industries ranging from mechanical design to software engineering as well as those more specifically focused on mechatronics, automation and robotics.
