Laws (Honours)

The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (LLB(Hons)) degree is your passport to exceptional success in the employment market: as a barrister or solicitor in private practice, as a prosecutor of crime, as a community lawyer, as a legal officer in the public service, as in-house counsel for a large corporation, or, when combined with another degree in any one of a wide range of positions in areas such as accounting, education, foreign affairs, industrial relations, management, politics or taxation. This program will see you develop outstanding skills in critical analysis, thought and argument, skills which will be valuable in whatever career you eventually choose. The LLB(Hons) offers a range of elective courses and extra-curricular activities that provide opportunities to put the knowledge you have acquired in the classroom into a practical context and enhance transferable skills such as advocacy and negotiation. Students applying to change program and/or applying for credit on the basis of previous studies should seek advice from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (bel@uq.edu.au). Please note that due to the pre-requisite requirements of compulsory courses, it may take longer than anticipated for students with credit to complete program requirements.

Music (Honours)/Education (Secondary)

This dual degree program is designed specifically for students wishing to pursue a career in music education, incorporating advanced research training in their chosen Music Honours field. In the first two years of the program, all students take practical study in their chosen instrument or the human voice, as well as courses in music history, techniques and aural training, plus electives from popular music or other courses. Students then undertake three years of courses relevant to their specialisation in music education. Final Year students have the opportunity to undertake teaching area courses that investigate the 7-12 Music syllabus, instrumental teaching and choral music education. Graduates are thoroughly prepared for the variety of teaching contexts expected of music teachers throughout secondary school , while also being equipped to undertake postgraduate studies in music.

Music (Honours)

The Bachelor of Music (Honours) is intended for students wishing to pursue a professional career in music, and integrates the development of practical skills with theoretical and historical musical knowledge, culminating in advanced research training in their chosen Music Honours field. Graduates of the program are equipped for professional careers in music and to undertake postgraduate studies in their chosen Music Honours field.

Science (Honours) - Gatton

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) program provides students with the opportunity to pursue an independent research project in an area of interest under the supervision of an academic staff member. Students will acquire skills which will enable them to work without close supervision in a research environment in industry or government, or to proceed to a research higher degree.

Environmental Science (Honours)

Do you have the passion and drive to address the world's environmental challenges? To do so you will need a range of scientific skills and knowledge and an understanding of legal, political and social aspects of environmental management. Through the Bachelor of Environmental Science (Honours) you will address these topics and develop skills in systems analysis and planning. Study fundamental environmental processes, the way they can be described, monitored and predicted, and the effect of human impact on the physical and biological environment. This program has been revised from 2021. Engineering (Honours) and Master of Engineering

The integrated Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) and Master of Engineering (BE (Hons)/ME) is the first 5 year engineering degree in Australia to integrate a semester placement, either in industry or research, into a degree with the Master's level course work. This unique combination in an undergraduate degree will provide graduates with world class knowledge and skills in their field of study as well as an enhanced ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and across fields. These are the attributes required to tackle current and future issues facing society and to create value for industry and society through innovation. BE(Hons)/ME graduates will have a head start in careers that require specialist skills and adaptability (e.g. in consulting, corporate/governmental advising or industrial research) or when applying for research higher degrees at the world's top research institutions. Engineering (Honours)/Information Technology

Enrolment is generally restricted to single majors in the BE (Hons) program. However, where students are enrolled in the BInfTech single major, enrolment is permitted in conjunction with the BE (Hons) Electrical Eng (Extended major); Electrical & Biomedical Eng; Electrical & Computer Eng; Mechatronic Eng (Extended major). Students must obtain an approved study plan prior to enrolment in these extended majors or dual majors.
