Engineering (Honours)/Arts

This dual degree program allows students to combine studies in engineering with a wide range of majors in the arts. The BE(Hons) has a large number of distinct single and extended majors. Students develop their understanding by applying science and engineering principles to engineering problems of commercial importance. In addition to technical expertise, the program emphasises essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, project management, problem-solving and lifelong learning. In the Arts component, students choose from an extensive list of majors. For example students may choose to pursue language studies, in order to work internationally in their field. Engineering (Honours)

UQ's engineering program offers the largest choice of engineering in Queensland. The flexible curriculum equips students to work in both established and newly emerging fields. In addition to technical expertise, the program emphasises essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, project management and problem-solving. The UQ engineering degree is widely accredited and equips students to work both in Australia and overseas. Note: The BE(Hons) (program code: 2342) has been discontinued from 2020, as the program has undergone a restructure and has a new program code for students commencing in 2021. Students commencing prior to 2021, should follow the course and program information for previous years. Transitional arrangements will be provided to students towards the later part of 2020. Students wanting to follow the 2021 structure will be required to program change and should seek academic advice prior to requesting the change. Advanced Science (Honours)

If you are a high achieving student with a keen interest in science then the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) will allow you to challenge and extend yourself. This elite four year program will provide the foundation for a research career with continuous interaction with researchers from your first year of study. You will visit research laboratories, conduct a research project in your final year and be mentored by academics. You will interact with other high achieving students and be exposed to cutting edge technologies and discoveries to put you at the forefront of the next generation of scientists. The program differs from the Bachelor of Science by offering courses at an advanced level and an Honours year incorporated as a standard part of your program schedule rather than as an additional component dependent on eligibility.

Business Management/International Hotel and Tourism Management

This dual degree program prepares future leaders for a management career in business, tourism, hospitality or event management. When studied full-time students are able to complete two degrees in four years, enhancing their career prospects by combining a major in tourism, hospitality or event management with any major offered in the Bachelor of Business Management such as Marketing, Human Resources, International Business or Sustainability.

Humanities/Laws (Honours)

This dual degree allows you to combine studies in law with a Bachelor of Humanities (BHum) specialising in the study of Western Civilisation. The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (LLB(Hons)) degree is your passport to success in the employment market: as a barrister or solicitor, prosecutor of crime, community lawyer, legal officer in public service, or in-house counsel for a large corporation. You will gain a thorough understanding of the concepts, principles, policies and values of the law both in Australia and other jurisdictions. It will also see you develop outstanding skills in critical analysis, thought and argument, which will be valuable in your chosen career. Your BHum studies will provide opportunities to immerse yourself in a creative and diverse curriculum with a strong critical focus on the key intellectual movements that have shaped Western Civilisation from antiquity to the current day. The BHum will equip you with knowledge and insights applicable to many of the problems that societies face today, and the collaborative and persuasive skills to bring about meaningful change. Due to a staged rollout process, courses in Western Civilisation will be limited in 2020, increasing in 2021.

Occupational Health and Safety Science (Honours)

There is currently a shortage of well-qualified Occupational Health and Safety professionals, particularly those with an undergraduate degree based on a sound background in the physical, behavioural, psycho-social and life sciences. This program is unique in that it addresses psycho-social and mental health issues within the workplace as well as the long-recognised chemical, physical, mechanical and biological hazards.

Science (Gatton)

The Bachelor of Science is a versatile degree that provides students with the optimal balance between a defined sequence of study and flexible course options. This innovative program has been redesigned to develop graduates with the key practical skills and interdisciplinary knowledge required to address today's global challenges. Students will study an extensive range of courses underpinned by cutting edge research and develop high levels of personal initiative, independent thinking and communication skills. Graduates will be qualified for employment opportunities in a wide array of science and non-science industries. This program has been revised from 2021. Exercise and Nutrition Sciences (Honours)

The Bachelor of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences (Honours) allows students with a generalist background in the exercise sciences and nutrition sciences to develop knowledge and core skills in theory and research. The program is based on a combination of coursework and a research project in the chosen field of study. Its objective is to produce graduates who will be able to think clearly, flexibly and critically, and be able to weigh up evidence and arguments and make rational choices. A honours research project allows students to demonstrate their advanced academic capability and culminates in the completion of a honours thesis. Students have the opportunity to pursue their independent research project in a range of fields such as human movement sciences (e.g. biomechanics, motor control, exercise physiology, sport and exercise psychology) and nutrition (e.g. food science, food and society, nutrition and disease). Students will acquire skills which will enable them to work without close supervision in a research environment in industry or government, or to proceed to a research higher degree at the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level.
