This program has been designed by critical care clinicians for doctors interested in emergency medicine, anaesthetics and intensive care medicine. It is the first such course to be offered in Australasia.This course is only available to students currently enrolled in the Master of Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) who meet the criteria for admission. In addition to completing the requirements for the master's degree, you will plan and carry out a supervised research project.A broad range of subjects relevant to the practice of critical care are available and include the basic sciences (in preparation for College examinations) retrieval medicine, pain medicine, clinical neurophysiology, ultrasound, simulation and clinical reasoning and communication. In addition, you will gain insights and understanding into the key research that informs this area of practice.The program is aimed at helping you become a well-rounded, analytical and successful clinician. It will assist you in passing the entry examinations of the relevant colleges, fulfilling their research requirements, and will provide you with research opportunities.The critical care program has been designed to connect you with clinical and academic leaders in this field, allowing you to stand out in a competitive profession. The program is designed for working doctors and can be studied part-time. It is largely delivered online with some intensive face-to-face teaching sessions.Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) are available for this course for eligible domestic students. Master of Medicine (Cataract and Refractive Surgery)

The cataract and refractive surgery program equips students with knowledge of cataract and refractive surgery theory and practice. The online component of the course includes lectures from internationally recognised corneal and refractive surgeons and interactive online discussions with the course coordinators. Students are also given the opportunity to attend a week of workshops and wet labs at the Sydney Eye Hospital as well as undertaking placements in accredited refractive surgical centres.Refractive surgery is an ever-expanding area within the field of ophthalmology, encompassing both laser and non-laser vision correction.
