The Master of Information Technology provides the knowledge and skills required to design, develop and maintain complex systems using state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies. It includes a general introduction to ICT and provides the opportunity for students to gain advanced specialist skills in areas such as networks, software development, and information systems analysis and management. Students also have the opportunity to apply their skills through industry-related project work, including industry-linked projects for real clients. This project work can demonstrate students’ skills and knowledge to potential future employers. The program incorporates units from the Graduate Diploma of Information Technology and Graduate Certificate of Information Technology.

The Master of Human Resource Management (Advanced) will equip you with the core capabilities required to lead people effectively in rapidly changing business environments. The Master of Human Resource Management (Advanced) gives you the opportunity to add a research component to your master degree, which will prepare you to undertake a PhD. Alternatively, in the course you can further your knowledge in other areas of interest by choosing additional electives. Co-created with industry partners, Siemens and Medibank, the Master of Human Resource Management (Advanced) will bring you face-to-face with those shaping the HRM landscape and ensure you’re at the forefront of change in HRM practices. The course is part of Swinburne’s Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship (AGSE).

The Master of Financial Technologies (Advanced) equips students to apply emerging technologies within the financial sector. An advanced research component also provides a pathway to a PhD. You will learn to apply technology concepts, critical thinking and problem-solving methodologies in financial contexts. You’ll also learn to communicate effectively within professional teams, and build your leadership and management skills. An independent research project allows you to make an original contribution to the field. After graduation, you could work as a technology consultant, or take on project management or strategy roles in financial services firms (particularly those implementing emerging technologies or new business models). Experienced professionals could progress into finance, marketing, administration or operations management roles. Those interested in further study can pursue a research pathway.

Master of Financial Planning

Be part of the fast-growing Australian financial planning industry with our Master of Financial Planning. Designed for both new and already practising financial planners, you’ll gain up-to-date knowledge and skills needed to provide tailored, professional financial advice while navigating complex financial matters You’ll use the latest financial planning software for wealth management and financial planning (XPLAN), engage with industry through site visits, annual roadshows and guest speakers. You’ll also have the opportunity to undertake a research project to gain a deeper understanding of financial planning issues. This course is accredited by the Financial Planning Education Council (FPEC). Students are eligible to apply for membership to the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) and for entry into the FPA CFP® Certification Program. This Master program is approved by the Financial Advisers Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA). FASEA was established in 2017 by the Australian government to set the standards of licensed financial advisers in Australia. A FASEA approved degree is mandatory in order to practice as a financial planner or advisor in Australia.
Master of Forensic Behavioural Science

The Master of Forensic Behavioural Science comprises coursework and research training that will enable graduates to work effectively in the widest range of forensic environments and with the widest range of forensic populations and to deal with complex and challenging issues in an autonomous manner. Professionals who work in forensic mental health/behavioural science contexts, or with forensic populations (such as offenders) require specialised skills. In addition to acquiring in-depth knowledge and skills in various aspects of forensic behavioural science, the Master of Forensic Behavioural Science will allow students to undertake two or five research-related units depending on their preferred future career aspirations. This course is offered through the Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science at Swinburne, in collaboration with the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health (Forensicare). Note: This course is available to local students and off-shore international students who are studying in a country other than Australia; this course is not available to on-shore international students on a student visa.
Master of Professional Engineering

The Master of Professional Engineering is designed to help students develop skills in professional management, communication, and research methods and principles in the engineering discipline. Students undertake research and project work, and benefit from the industry focus of the program. Students participate in a professional industry project. This experience allows students to apply their knowledge and skills to industry problems. They also enhance students’ awareness of industry and provide valuable networking opportunities. A key feature of the course is the Career Success Program which aims to improve graduate employability by focusing on preparation for post-study career opportunities.
