Structure
The Bachelor of Counselling consists of 144 points comprised of:
- DZ3076 Supervised Counselling Practicum
- DZ3077 Advanced Counselling Theories Processes and Strategies
- DZ3250 Relationship Counselling
- DZ3260 Abnormal Psychology
- 36 points in the discipline of Professional Counselling
- 18 points in a discipline or disciplines in Field B or Field C
- A further 18 points.
Entry requirements
A person may apply to enrol as a candidate for the Bachelor of Counselling if he or she:
- Is a self-insured, non-student member of a relevant professional body; and
- Satisfactorily completes an interview with a designated Course Advisor; and
- Has satisfactorily completed an eligible Advanced Diploma in Counselling.
For the purposes of admission, eligible Advanced Diplomas in Counselling are:
- The Advanced Diploma in Counselling awarded by the University of Divinity
- 10487NAT Advanced Diploma of Counselling and Family Therapy (Christian)
- 80884ACT Advanced Diploma of Counselling and Family Therapy (Christian)
Learning outcomes
Graduates of the Bachelor of Counselling:
- have specialised counselling skills to work with clients including those with high and complex needs.
- apply client spirituality into the counselling experience from an ethical perspective with a critical understanding of Christian worldviews.
- apply theological and professional reflection to organisational practice.
- apply innovative professional practice in counselling with diverse people in an unpredictable range of contexts.
- apply specialised skills for clients with relationship issues.
