About

The Diploma of Commerce provides an introduction to general business studies.

This program introduces you to fundamental knowledge and concepts in business, and develops your technical skills in areas such as business computing and business statistics.

This program is equivalent to the first year of undergraduate business degrees and will facilitate articulation into the second year of undergraduate programs offered by the College of Business.This program provides opportunities to solve real business problems through structured activities such as workshops and projects.

You will develop your knowledge and skills by attending lectures and tutorials, keeping reflective journals, taking in-class tests, writing reports and participating in class discussions.The Diploma of Commerce provides you with various opportunities to develop skills for direct work outcomes as well as facilitate transition to further education through embedded business communication and academic learning skills.

Career opportunities for graduates exist in both public and private business sectors, small and large enterprises and across a wide range of industries.This program is available for on-campus study.* Accelerated Delivery - 3 months in October 2020, and 5 months in Semester 1 2021

Entry requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of year 12 or equivalent, IELTS 5.5 with no band less that 5.0, or TOEFL equivalent;
  • OR
  • successful completion of the REW Upper Intermediate English program.

Learning outcomes

The Diploma of Commerce program will provide you with theoretical knowledge in key business areas of accounting, management, economics, statistics, marketing, law and information technology. You will be able to identify, analyse and interpret key business concepts, as well as to identify relevant data and information that enable you to solve a diverse range of business problems.

You will use specialised technical skills and business tools to analyse data, produce reports and be able to express and explain these by developing communication skills through team work and classroom presentations.
