This graduate certificate is specifically designed for qualified educators who are interested in developing their knowledge, understanding and skills in Catholic education practices, principles and policies.
The four courses you are required to complete integrate contemporary education theory and practice with biblical studies and theology. These courses cover scripture, theology, contemporary Catholic schools, and religious education. You will also cover recent developments in theories, research and debates relating to the practice of Catholic education, as well as the philosophical and theological foundations of Catholic education.
For each course you study, you will need to allocate time for various classes such as lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and practicals. Plus you will need additional hours to study in your own time to complete assignments, readings and projects and contribute to online discussion forums. So as a general rule, if you are studying full-time you would need to allocate 12 – 26 hours of study when at university and 14 – 28 hours of independent study per week.
