Graduate Certificate in Information Technology

Taught by world-class lecturers and researchers, this graduate certificate will get you up to speed with the latest thinking in enterprise-wide IT.

You will be provided with foundational skills in IT infrastructure and specialised skills related to one of three streams:

Cybersecurity Technical Enterprise Management This enterprise management postgraduate degree is offered as part of a suite of three programs (graduate certificate, graduate diploma and master).

Each qualification extends to the next, so you can easily transition to a master level qualification.

If you finish the Enterprise Management stream of the Graduate Certificate and want to do further study, consider going on to the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (Enterprise Management) or the Master of Information Technology (Enterprise Management).

Entry requirements

For entry into the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology applicants are required to have:

• A completed Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent; OR
• A completed Diploma in a related discipline and have been employed in a relevant industry for three (3) or more years; OR
• Five (5) years or more proven employment in this field or industry.

This qualification offers three IT streams that will develop your skills in one of the following areas:

• cybersecurity fundamentals
• technical capabilities - infrastructure, databases and warehouses
• business systems and practices

For each course you study, you will need to allocate time for various classes such as lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and practicals. Plus you will need additional hours to study in your own time to complete assignments, readings and projects and contribute to online discussion forums. So as a general rule, if you are studying full-time you would need to allocate 12 – 26 hours of study when at university and 14 – 28 hours of independent study per week.

By 2023, employment in ICT is expected to grow strongly in Australia. The availability of roles is expected to increase by:

• 25,500 jobs for software and applications programmers (or 21 per cent)
• 2,300 jobs for ICT business and systems analysts (or 9.5 per cent)
• 8,200 jobs for ICT managers (or 13.9 per cent)
• 8,100 jobs for ICT Network and Support professionals (or 15.3 per cent)1

With the aid of further study, consider careers in:

• business analyst (enterprise management stream)
• IT project manager (enterprise management stream)
• systems administrator (cybersecurity or technical stream)
