Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Bachelor of Mathematics

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Bachelor of Mathematics combines professional engineering skills, including management, communications, teamwork and problem solving, with a major study in mathematics.Double degrees aim to broaden a student's knowledge and skill base and improve career options in competitive, increasingly interactive fields.

The programs are designed to enhance a student's educational, academic and professional qualifications whilst minimising the costs of their studies.

Students must seek advice and approval from both Faculties before enrolment.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Bachelor of Mathematics must complete a total of 264 credit points made up of:

1. At least 174 credit points of Engineering subjects consisting of:
2. a. Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Core Subjects;
3. b. Subjects leading to at least one of the majors* from the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours);
4. c. at least 12 weeks of approved professional engineering experience during the course**;
5. d. students are not to complete MATH141, MATH142, and MATH283 as students will complete equivalent content in the Mathematics component.
6. At least 90 credit points of Mathematics subjects, consisting of 60 credit points of core subjects (excluding MATH100 and CSIT110), one of MATH212, MATH222, STAT201, and 30 credit points of 300- and/or 400- level subjects from the Mathematics schedule.
7. No more than 90 credit points of 100- level subjects.

* Depending on the major chosen, students may require the completion of additional credit points

** Part-time students completing a major in Civil, Environmental, Materials, Mechanical, Mechatronic or Mining Engineering, and in an approved full-time engineering employment may be exempted from up to three specified subjects.

All students must discuss the Engineering subjects with the relevant Academic Program Director

A number of the course learning outcomes in each of these degrees complement and consolidate outcomes in the partner degree. Applied across two discipline areas, the outcomes are achieved at a broader and more comprehensive level.

The outcomes, which are common and consolidated in this joint degree, ensure that on successful completion of the course students will be able to:
