UWA's admission requirements for some postgraduate courses have changed for Semester 2, 2020 to facilitate student access to study during the COVID-19 situation.

In many cases, these changes may not be extended beyond 2020.

Contact Future Students for more information.This degree is of a higher standing than the Doctor of Philosophy and is awarded for independent and original research which constitutes a substantial and distinguished contribution to the knowledge and understanding of any branch of learning with which the Faculty is concerned.

The candidate's work should demonstrate a high degree of innovative thinking in terms of the development and testing of hypotheses and discovery, and should be recognised as such by the scientific community.

The University Policy on: Higher Doctorates applies to the Doctor of Surgery.
