About
You’ll learn to effectively manage the office administration aspects of a business, and gain a focused understanding of today’s business world.
This well-rounded course will give you skills in:
creating presentations advanced word processing, spreadsheets and databases producing business documents organising travel and meetings analysing and presenting research people management safe workplace practices.
You’ll also gain insight into the various possible career paths that you could take with these skills.
When you graduate, you’ll have the ability and confidence to work in the industry, directing a range of administration tasks.

If you choose to study this course as a complement to the Diploma of Remedial Massage or Beauty Therapy, you may study at another of our campuses.
This course has limited government-subsidised commencements in 2020.
Structure
To be awarded BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business, a student must complete a total of ten (10) units of competency, consisting of:
- one (1) core unit, and;
- nine (9) elective units of which:
- five (5) elective units must be selected from the elective units listed in the BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business qualification;
- four (4) elective units may be selected from the elective units listed in the BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business qualification, or any currently endorsed training package or accredited course at the same qualification level;
- if not listed in BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business, one (1) unit may be selected from either a Certificate III or Diploma qualification.
Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment, contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome as well as be approved by the Polytechnic.

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers
For the above streams, previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course. Units must satisfy the completion rules of the training package and be assessed as appropriate by the Polytechnic.

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Entry requirements
Prior to enrolment, all applicants will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to assist with determining eligibility and to identify learning support needs.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
You may be able to complete your qualification sooner through formal recognition of your existing skills. This is known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
To receive RPL, we assess your previous work, education and life experiences against recognised qualifications. Applications for RPL can be made prior to enrolling.

Learning outcomes
This qualification is suited to those working as administrators and project officers. In this role, individuals use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.
