About

The VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) is the senior secondary school qualification (Year 11 and Year 12) issued by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).

Studying the VCE as an adult has many advantages, including:

increased options for further study improving your ATAR score career change benefits a second chance to complete your secondary education qualification the opportunity to complete the certificate in one year (for adults returning to study).

Studying the VCE at Victoria University Polytechnic, you have the option to commence selected Year 12 VCE subjects in Semester 2, 2019 on the Northern Hemisphere Timetable (NHT) and complete the subjects in Semester 1, 2020.

Subjects can be selected from the Victorian Timetable (VT) and NHT.

Upon successful completion, you can choose to pathway into TAFE or bachelor degree courses.

Structure

Non-Adult students To qualify for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of sixteen (16) units, which must include:

  • three (3) units from the English group, including a Unit 3-4 sequence, and;
  • at least three (3) sequences of Unit 3–4 studies other than English, which may include any number of English sequences once the English requirement has been met.

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) advises that satisfactory completion of a scored Units 3 and 4 of an English group sequence is required for the calculation of a student’s Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

Adult students To qualify for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), students must satisfactorily complete at least eight (8) units, which must include:

  • a Unit 3-4 sequence from the English group, and;
  • three (3) sequences of Units 3 and 4 in studies other than English.

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) advises that satisfactory completion of a scored Units 3 and 4 of an English group sequence is required for the calculation of a student’s Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

Victorian Timetable (VT) If enrolling as an adult, applicants must be at least 18 years of age on the 1st of January in the year of enrolment and not have undertaken full-time secondary schooling for the full year (Jan-Dec) preceding the first year of enrolment.

Prior to enrolment, all applicants will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to assist with determining eligibility and to identify learning support needs.

Northern Hemisphere Timetable (NHT) If enrolling as an adult, applicants must be at least 18 years of age on the 1st of July in the year of enrolment and not have undertaken full-time secondary schooling for the full year (July-June) preceding the first year of enrolment.

Prior to enrolment, all applicants will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to assist with determining eligibility and to identify learning support needs.
