Certificate IV in Clinical Classification

This certificate equips you with the knowledge required to apply data coding to medical information. You will develop skills to translate descriptions of medical diagnoses and procedures into codes, which are recorded as health data. This requires a good understanding of medical terminology, but doesn't require hands-on contact with patients. Clinical coders work with hospitals, government organisations and other medical institutes to code medical records. They ensure coded data meets national and legal reporting requirements. The data you create will contribute to: medical research health service planning monitoring patient safety hospital funding models. This course is offered fully online through our award-winning blended learning model (external link) . You will be guided through a series of eLearning activities and attend weekly webinars to consolidate your learning. Assessments are conducted through a combination of webinar and discussion board attendance and online tests. This course replaces 7024 - Diploma in Engineering Science Fast Track from 2014.This course is delivered by Western Sydney University, The College as an agent of Western Sydney University.The Diploma in Engineering Fast Track is designed to engage students in, and further prepare students for, tertiary study in Engineering / Engineering Science and in so doing address any perceived deficiencies in the students’ mathematical and physics knowledge and skills. The Diploma presents students with units from the first year of the Bachelor of Engineering Science degree or the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). The Diploma aims to produce students who are fully prepared for study beyond the first year of the Bachelor of Engineering Science / Engineering (Honours) degree. The Diploma, completed in a smaller, more supportive learning environment than usually found in first year undergraduate programs, is designed to develop students to have greater ability in self-directed study and have the self-esteem that comes from prior achievement in a tertiary environment. Students who successfully complete the Diploma in Engineering Fast Track will articulate into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at Western Sydney University with up to one year equivalent of advanced standing.

Graduate Diploma in Midwifery

For commencement year 2015 - 2020, please refer to: 4697.1 Graduate Diploma in MidwiferyThe Graduate Diploma in Midwifery is a course for registered nurses wishing to pursue a career in Midwifery. The course prepares graduates for eligibility to apply for registration throughout Australia as a registered midwife. The course combines theory and practice with an emphasis on woman centred care, the art and science of midwifery, health promotion, communication skills, evidence based practice and models of midwifery care within a primary health care approach. To be eligible for this course students are required to obtain a 12 month position of employment as a Registered Nurse/midwifery student in an affiliated NSW Health Local Health District hospital or a Maternity Unit in a Private Hospital. The course will be offered over 14 months with the students completing the last unit in Summer B of the second year.Accreditation The Graduate Diploma in Midwifery is accredited by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) on recommendation by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). Associate Degree in Computing

There is no new intake into this degree from 2014. This degree is in teach-out. Interested applicants should look at the Associate Degree in Information and Communication Technology.The Associate Degree in Computing is a 2-year award which provides a solid foundation to the disciplines of Computing and Computer Science. Students complete 16 units with at least 10 relating specifically to IT.
