Fundamental issues in health professional education are addressed and a range of options in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Education are offered. Students can also pursue a particular area of research interest within health professional education.Due to the structure of the course, International Students can only commence in Semester 1, February, each year.

Contact Future Students for more information.Audiology is the clinical science involving the prevention, assessment and rehabilitation of hearing loss and associated communication disorders.The Clinical Audiology course commences in January, with a new intake of students in even-numbered years only. It is an intensive full-time course with tuition divided between intensive theoretical and practical modules and clinical placements. The intensive modules require full-time attendance, equivalent to 40 hours per week, over their whole duration which is usually seven weeks. Clinical placements are managed by the Clinical Coordinator.

Higher Degree by Research Preliminary (Health and Medical Sciences) (90440)

It provides students with an opportunity to meet the adequate research preparation admission requirements for Higher Degrees by Research if their research output is assessed as at least 70% for PhD or 65% for MPhil or Masters by Research degrees. Graduates are not guaranteed admission to an HDR degree, and must meet all the usual admission requirements.This one year course comprises between 24 and 48 points of research preparation in health and medical sciences, which represents the equivalent of one semester or one year of full-time study respectively. When the research preparation is less than 48 points, up to 24 points of relevant coursework completes the course.In the research preparation component students undertake an original research project under supervision. In consultation with their project supervisor students define a project and develop research questions or hypotheses, set objectives and aims, plan and execute the research, interpret the results and present those results in oral and written forms. The final output of the research project will be a research dissertation similar in content and context to a peer reviewed research article in an academic journal, or other academic writing, in the discipline of the research.In all cases, and prior to application, students must have written agreement by two supervisors and written approval by their relevant Head/s of School/s or Head/s of Division, as defined in the rules.

It teaches the skills necessary for successful students to undertake clinical research and apply research evidence to clinical practice. It is taught by experienced critical care clinicians and researchers. The course trains students to become critical consumers of the clinical research literature, to apply research evidence to clinical practice and to develop the skills necessary to undertake clinical research.
