Many of these credentials are also required to fulfill the requirements of the equivalent European or American Diplomat/Specialist bodies.On successful completion the candidate will graduate with two degrees: a Master of Veterinary Studies (Clinical Residency Program) (a coursework degree) and a Master of Veterinary Clinical Studies (a research degree).For postgraduate research in veterinary science, there is no better place to train than the University of Sydney. Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney is ranked first in Australia and 12th in the world in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020, and has been given a maximum score of 5 in the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) federal government scheme for the veterinary sciences field of research. Master of Philosophy (Pharmacy)

From 2021, the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Philosophy will be delivered under one new central name and course code. Both degrees are now available for application for 2021 commencement. Research degrees are available for both medical and non-medical graduates.The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is aimed at those who intend to pursue careers in medical or health research or who wish to gain a competitive edge by demonstrating superior ability and research experience. The MPhil is a research degree in which students undertake supervised research leading to the production of a thesis.The faculty may admit an applicant that has obtained at least a credit in the highest course available in the subject or subjects relevant to the proposed course of advanced study and research. Full-time MPhil students have a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 2 years to submit a thesis for examination. Part-time students have a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 4 years to submit.

The Master of Philosophy (Dentistry) course is aimed at those who intend to pursue academic careers in oral health or a related field and can be used as a foundation to commencing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).At the University of Sydney School of Dentistry, our aim is to put the mouth back into health by progressing a deeper understanding of the links between oral and systemic health.Normally completed over two years full-time, or four years part-time, the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a research-based degree in which students undertake supervised research in a range of dental specialisations or disciplines.This course offers students the chance to work with a supervisor who is actively contributing to the development of new knowledge and understanding in the field of dentistry.MPhil students are required to successfully complete a unit of study on research methods, although the thesis is the major examinable assessment requirement for the degree. This course allows students to conduct high-impact, multidisciplinary research that spans across our broad priority research areas of: cancer diagnosis and rehabilitation; communication sciences and disorders; disability and mental health; musculoskeletal health; and physical activity, lifestyle, ageing and well-being. Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management)

The Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) provides advanced education in pain management for graduates in medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy, psychology and other disciplines involved in pain management. This course is offered in the form of online distance education mode and you may complete the course full-time or part-time.This course is offered through our interactive online learning environment, giving you the flexibility to tailor your study schedule around your lifestyle.All stream specific units are online. You may find however; a couple of electives do have a face-to-face component. These can be avoided depending on your individual preferences. In 2014 the program was endorsed by the International Association for the Study of Pain, the leading international scientific body representing and supporting about 8000 pain scientists and clinicians around the world. Currently, completely of the Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) is the only recognised academic pathway to becoming a titled Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) Pain Physiotherapist. This is due to the way the course is uniquely mapped against the IASP interprofessioanl curriculum for the study of pain.The course is also recognised for Continuing Medical Education/Maintenance of Professional Standards Program points by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.Please ensure your CV includes details of any relevant work or other experience. Information for 2021 commencing studentsTaking effect Semester 1, 2021, postgraduate students who wish to undertake study in infection and immunity will do so via the new Master of Biomedical Science (Infection and Immunity).The Master of Science in Medicine (Infection and Immunity) will no longer be offered to new students. The Master of Medicine (Infection and Immunity) will still be available to those who meet the eligibility criteria (i.e. those with an MD).Designed for healthcare professionals, the Master of Science in Medicine (Infection and Immunity) analyses the fundamental mechanisms of infectious diseases to find improved ways of combating them. This program will help participants to increase their knowledge of infectious diseases, infection control and the immune system.The Master of Medicine (Infection and Immunity) is designed for clinicians who are looking to stay abreast of the latest technologies, treatments and techniques in the field of infectious diseases. We also offer a master in medicine program to other health professionals.
Master of Science in Medicine (Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy)

The Master of Science in Medicine (Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy) teaches an approach that helps people with personality or anxiety disorders, dysthymia, chronic depression, somatisation and other conditions in which trauma is a contributing factor.The program is designed to train clinicians to treat people for whom chronic, complex trauma has played a contributing role in the development of psychological disorders or stress, or where conventional psychotherapies have failed. It uses an evidence-based approach to psychodynamic psychotherapy and offers supervised training across the different lengths of treatment, from acute to brief and longer term, suitable for public and private settings.This course is suitable for clinicians with mental health experience, such as social workers, psychologists, nurses, psychotherapists, counsellors and school counsellors and may be of interest to others such as speech pathologists and dentists. The program is delivered in close liaison with the Western Sydney Local Health District and practising clinicians to ensure that the skills taught are practical and relevant to real-world psychotherapy practice settings. Clinical content includes short and longer-term interventions and the integration of psychotherapy with other treatment modalities.A limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are available for this course for Semester 1, 2020. To be considered for a CSP you must apply for entry to the course by February 2020 and places will be allocated based on merit.
