The Diploma in Science is open to graduates of a Bachelor program in any field of study. It is a flexible program that is ideal for people who need to fulfil prerequisites for entry into another program, for people who are preparing to sit the GAMSAT or for teachers looking for professional development. Students enrolling in the program can choose to either complete a major from the course list or to complete a set of courses without a declared major. Due to the sequential nature of some majors in which some courses require prerequisite knowledge, students may need to complete the Diploma part time over three or four semesters. Science/Journalism

University of Queensland

Students can combine the flexibility of a Science degree with a professional Journalism qualification. While attaining media, communication and journalism skills, students can either have a broad scientific background or specialise in an area. This program has been revised from 2021. Information Technology

Students study information & communications technology (ICT) for a variety of reasons - to be a computing professional, to use ICT to be a better scientist, or to empower themselves to better understand the technology behind many of today's careers. Increasingly, employers see an ICT qualification as a sign of academic well-roundedness. ICT drives innovations such as the human genome project, vaccine research, environmental modelling. Key ICT areas include cyber security, mobile computing, cloud computing, and data analytics. Independent job market surveys show that demand for graduates is escalating, along with salaries. Note: The BInfTech (program code: 2230) has been discontinued from 2020, as the program has undergone a restructure and has a new program code for students commencing in 2021. Students commencing prior to 2021, should follow the course and program information for previous years. Transitional arrangements will be provided to students towards the later part of 2020. Students wanting to follow the 2021 structure will be required to program change and should seek academic advice prior to requesting the change.

Science/Education (Secondary)

Bachelor of Science/Education students complete two degrees in less time than if each was studied separately. The Bachelor of Science provides the content knowledge for two teaching areas whilst the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) provides the necessary skills, knowledge and practical experiences required for teacher registration and employment. The Bachelor of Science/Education degree offers a wide range of teaching area (BSc major) options. Students benefit from a thorough preparation for their teaching areas combined with, and informed by, their professional studies in the area of education. This program has been revised from 2021. It allows Bachelor of Music students to spend their final year of study completing a research thesis or a practice-based research project and thesis as well as undertaking discipline specific research training through the coursework component.An Advanced Entry Scheme is available to suitably qualified applicants. Students admitted into the advanced entry scheme may receive a block credit of up to 36 UOC in Level 1 music courses.The first three years of the Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music (Honours) are common to both degrees.
