Bachelor of Aviation (Commercial Pilot)

The Bachelor of Aviation (Commercial Pilot) will prepare you for a career as a commercial pilot. In this course, you will gain the aeronautical knowledge and experience required to achieve a Commercial Pilot Licence and Command Instrument Rating. In the first year of your study, you will fly solo in the circuit area of the training aerodrome. You will learn about the physics of aviation, flight planning, navigation, performance, loading and operations pertaining to small general aviation aircraft. You will calculate basic flight plans and fuel plans. You will also study meteorological, and navigational factors that affect flying, such as aerodrome forecasts and area forecasts. You will develop knowledge of planning flights on navigational charts and airspace requirements. You will also be introduced to the laws that are relevant to aviation.During your second year, you should be eligible to apply for your first pilot licence, the Recreational Pilot Licence, and start your navigation training. You will learn the aerodynamics, aeronautics, meteorology, navigation, flight planning and loading required by a commercial pilot. You will learn about the human factors that impact commercial pilots. Flight planning and navigation, both visually and using instruments, are also covered. Towards the end of the second year, you should be eligible to apply for your Private Pilot Licence and start your Commercial Pilot Licence training. During your third year, you will complete your Command Instrument Rating training and your Commercial Pilot Licence training and you should be eligible to apply for your Commercial Pilot Licence and Command Instrument Rating.

Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (Honours)

The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (Honours) will qualify you to work as a medical laboratory scientist. You will gain theoretical and technical knowledge in the clinical disciplines of laboratory medicine for application in the diagnostic setting. Throughout your study you will build technical and evaluative skills to assess and implement recommendations for best practice in patient testing, monitoring and education. This course will enable you to develop an advanced level of communication skill to interact positively with patients and other health professionals ready for the clinical or scientific work environment. Clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities are key skills for the medical laboratory scientist. You will develop these skills through opportunities in professional practice, case-based studies and research projects. This course is accredited by the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists and you are able to apply for professional membership upon completion.

Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations)

The Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations) will prepare you for a career as a professional airline pilot capable of managing a multi crew environment. In this course you will study the academic and aeronautical knowledge requirements of the Air Transport Pilot Licence and Command Instrument Rating. In the first year of your study, you will fly solo in the circuit area of the training aerodrome. You will learn about the physics of aviation, flight planning, navigation, performance, loading and operations pertaining to small general aviation aircraft. You will calculate basic flight plans and fuel plans. You will also study meteorological, and navigational factors that affect flying, such as aerodrome forecasts and area forecasts. You will develop knowledge of planing flights on navigational charts and airspace requirements. You will also be introduced to the laws that are relevant to aviation. During your second year, you will learn the aerodynamics, aeronautics, meteorology, navigation, flight planning and loading required by a commercial pilot. You will learn about the human factors that impact commercial pilots. Flight planning and navigation both visually and using instruments are also covered. In your third year, you will build on the knowledge and skills relating to aerodynamics, navigation, meteorology, flight planning and other aeronautical knowledge to bring you to the level required for the Air Transport Pilot Licence. In addition, you will learn how to manage a multi crew environment and develop and maintain a safety management system. If you wish to obtain your Commercial Pilot Licence and Command Instrument Rating you will need to complete the Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations) in addition to the Bachelor of Aviation. All practical flight training components beyond first solo in the circuit area of your training aerodrome are delivered in the Graduate Diploma. You will not be eligible for enrolment in the Graduate Diploma until you have successfully completed the first term of the Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations). Bachelor of Midwifery (Graduate Entry)

Bachelor of Information Technology (Co-op)

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Co-op) enables you to acquire valuable experience through a paid and supervised industry placement. You normally undertake an industry placement following the successful completion of half of your course study. Industry placements are typically of three months duration. The core units in this course provide you with a solid grounding in the core body of IT knowledge and skills as defined by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). The course allows you to choose a major in preparation for employment or further study.

The Bachelor of Laws course at CQUniversity is a three-year full-time or four-year part-time undergraduate degree. The course covers all the areas of law required to satisfy professional accreditation through the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board. The course enables graduates to proceed to practice as a legal practitioner after completing the required professional training. During your studies you will learn about legal procedures and key legislation, and be given the opportunity to develop skills necessary to identify, analyse and evaluate facts in relation to legal frameworks. The core areas of law covered in the course match those required for admission to the legal profession (Priestley 11) and other requirements of the Law Admissions Consultative Committee including statutory interpretation, criminal law and procedure, contracts, torts, federal and state constitutional law, equity (including trusts), administrative law, property, company law, evidence, ethics and professional responsibility and civil dispute resolution. The course also offers five elective choices from a diverse range of electives including alternative dispute resolution, legal drafting, legal advocacy, commercial law, family law, succession, revenue law, jurisprudence, eLaw, Australian employment law, environmental law, international and human rights law etc. The course is taught at Australian Qualifications Framework level 7 Bachelor degree (see www.aqf.edu.au/aqf-levels). Graduates at this level will have broad and coherent knowledge and skills for professional work and/or further learning.

Bachelor of Medical Imaging

The Medical Imaging course aims to develop graduates who are able to apply their knowledge and practical imaging skills in the diagnostic imaging setting. To support your ability to develop these attributes, the course is designed to develop a high level of evaluative skill and proficiency in performing radiographic and computed tomography imaging procedures to tailor the procedure to the individual patient in a safe, caring and effective manner. The course aims to develop high level communication skills so that you can interact positively with patients and other health professionals in the clinical work environment. Your clinical decision making and problem solving ability will be promoted through the use of simulation based learning techniques and exposure to 'real world' conditions while on clinical practice. This is an accelerated four year degree, which can be completed in 3.5 years.
