The types of assessment used in the program may take the form of formal examinations, assignments, case studies, projects, and in-class tests.The range of occupations available for graduates of this program is varied, but includes banking, stockbroking, funds management, insurance and superannuation industries or in other private sector or government organisations which have a requirement for high level, technical expertise in finance. You are given the opportunity to contribute to the diversity of practice in this field where you may explore commissioned or uncommissioned work and through this, contribute to the evolving practice in this field.This program is one of the first of its kind in the world and the most comprehensive in course content and structure. It brings together both education and research and encourages active collaboration between art and design practitioners and the community. You will address issues within art in public space that are central to current international cultural debate.You willl gain a broad theoretical and historical understanding of discourses and practices of public art examining current definitions of real and virtual public space and training you to deal with the practical and theoretical problems that arise from such definitions in relation to art.You’ll explore alternative views of how art is presented and received in the urban context and address questions such as:Where are the spaces that enable art to be an active interpretation, rather than decoration, of the city? Who should define policies for public culture? How can art negotiate the new spaces of the contemporary public sphere such as the internet?Graduates leave the program with the skills of a practising public artist or theorist with project management skills, creativity and leadership skills valued by a range of employers in the arts and beyond. You will critically engage with career development practice and be engaged in developing the key concepts and the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners that underpin work across career development contexts.On completion of the program you will be a professional practitioner able to employ CICA professional standards to work ethically with a range of clients in diverse settings such as education, employment services, the corporate world, and private practice. Career Development Practitioners may deliver services in settings such as, but not limited to, schools, higher education (e.g., TAFE and Universities), business organisations, government agencies and private practice in a range of formats including one-to-one, small groups, via the web, large classes and self-help materials.While acquiring knowledge and skills in traditional areas of practice you will be adopting a design thinking approach to your work with clients/client groups. You will learn about developing frameworks for practice such as career and life design while exploring emerging trends in digital technology and social media. The program also involves a compulsory three day practical face-to-face counselling workshop on a RMIT Campus, and a three (3) day work placement.

Graduates of GD052 are employed in a wide range of industries, usually in national and international companies or as consultants. GC035 is an exit point only from GD052; you are encouraged to acquire further education in OHS if you wish to work as an OHS Professional.This program assists you to understand the OHS Body of Knowledge and be able to apply this in a range of organisational contexts. RMIT focuses on the science and technology of risk mangement through assessment of hazards and development of specific control mechanisms.Specifically, the Body of Knowledge includes:the global concepts of health, safety and work, and the implications that these have in organisations the socio-political and organisational context in which work occurs and how this impacts work design and its effects on the workers the causes of fatalities, injuries and ill health arising from work recognition of hazards, assessment of their risk and development of suitable controlsYou will learn to apply these concepts in a range of contexts, allowing you to develop confidence and proficiency in your professional OHS practice.
