Surveying is based on the collection, management and presentation of information related to land surveying and mapping. This national qualification prepares you for employment in a range of industry sectors and provides the educational and practical training for a career in the surveying and mapping industries.During the first semester, you will learn to plan spatial data collection and validation, conduct an engineering survey, perform advanced surveying computations, implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices, apply site risk management system, undertake site surveys and set-out procedures for building projects, prepare and present GIS data, use complex spreadsheets for spatial information and manipulate and analyse GIS data.In the second semester, you will learn to conduct an advanced GNSS data collection and set out survey, create engineering drawings, perform geodetic surveying computations, conduct geodetic surveying, develop a subdivision survey design for local government approval, conduct an engineering surveying project and compile and check survey plans.

RMIT's Conservation and Land management program provides you with the skills and knowledge needed to work in the field managing natural resources.You will spend a large part of your time outdoors learning hands-on skills from industry professionals and carrying out project based work.
