The Certificate IV in EAL (Further Study) is part of an academic preparation program at RMIT University. It is for people from non-English speaking backgrounds who wish to improve their speaking, listening, reading, writing and further study skills. The program aims to provide learners with the cultural understanding, advanced English language, and tertiary study skills to participate in further study contexts. This certificate is offered in Semester 1 and in Semester 2.

This program has a technical skills focus, preparing you for work in a range of laboratories. The Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques provides a broad and flexible package of competencies which meet the needs of laboratory assistants & laboratory technicians and similar personnel.It will provide you with a pathway into the Diploma of Laboratory Technology.

This qualification reflects the role of those involved in providing management services for strata communities.In most situations, the individual will work independently but may operate as part of a strata community management team. In this role, the person will perform all functions associated with the administration of strata communities, including facilitating meetings of strata community members, administering insurance for strata communities, handling strata community funds, as well as maintaining business records and reporting on the financial activities of strata communities.You will be studying this qualifications in order to learn about strata schemes and communities; the functions and duties of a manager including the administration and facilitation of meetings, handling strata funds and reporting on financial activities, administering insurance, implementing contracts of appointment and the ability to read plans.

RMIT’s Conservation and Land Management program provides you with the skills and knowledge needed to work in the field managing natural resources. You will spend a large part of your time outdoors learning hands on skills from industry professionals and carrying out project based work. This will take place mainly in rural locations and will bring you into contact with other professionals from a range of Government and community organisations.

You will have the opportunity to develop your colour, drawing, design and computer skills to plan, develop and produce textiles and products.The Certificate IV in Textile Design, Development and Production covers occupations such as those in assistant design and sample production roles within the textiles industry. Graduates at the Certificate IV level will be capable of working as assistants or trainee designers, working in a supervised environment in disciplines such as screen print, weave, knitting and surface design. Textile designers as part of a design team for small and large companies.

The Certificate IV In Custom Made Footwear prepares you for occupations in a production environment where footwear is typically custom-made or involves small production quantities.The objective of this program - the Certificate IV In Custom Made Footwear - is to be both an entry level qualification in making custom-made footwear and related skills, as well as a qualification providing the skills for employment in a range of jobs in the footwear industry. This program offers you training in skills to work in a range of footwear development related areas and be able to work in a variety of jobs in the footwear industry in Australia and overseas.Previous graduates who have successfully completed a Certificate IV in Custom Made Footwear have gained positions including assistant designers, quality control officers, quality assurance officers, specification developers or running their own small footwear design and manufacturing business.

Surveying is based on the collection, management and presentation of information related to surveying, mapping and geographical information systems. These services are used in a wide range of circumstances and are an integral part of local, state and national land management programs, building and construction projects, environmental studies, navigational systems and monitoring of emergency situations.This program provides the educational and practical training for a career in the surveying, mapping, and geographical information systems (GIS) industries.The emphasis is on practical experience using industry-standard equipment. You will use various surveying technologies and software for electronic data capture, processing and presentation.Areas of study include surveying practice including computing and produce maps using GIS program, drafting using AutoCAD software, compute coordinates using survey softwares like LisCAD, use of level, chain, total station and global positioning systems (GPS), communication skills, and occupational health and safety. This program is available as either Traineeship or Non-Traineeship program. This program is currently offered to applicants considering a career in surveying after a career in a related or non related field.

This qualification reflects the role of an advanced technician (technical office), team leader or supervisor with a range of telecommunications skills who can:install and maintain enterprise network in emerging and converging technologies using optical and wireless equipment for high speed broadband network infrastructure install and maintain internet protocol (IP) based network telecommunications equipment in home networks and small and medium enterprises install and maintain telecommunications, data cabling and cabling products on customer premises cabling at the customer premises in accordance to requirements of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and relevant industry registration bodies, and in line with the specifications of the access network owner install and maintain telecommunications access network cabling and infrastructure, systems and basic customer premises equipment assess installation requirements, plan installations and test installed equipment and fault find including converging voice, video and data IP networks.This role involves a degree of autonomy and may include limited supervision of others.
