The program develops your academic skills, knowledge and confidence, required to access and participate in higher-level qualifications, and enhances your further study prospects. The program is designed as a pathway for school leavers who did not attain a required skill level, those who wish to change career, or for those of you who have not studied for some years.The objective of the Science stream is to prepare you for further study and to create pathways into the field of science. To support this, upon successful completion of the qualification, guaranteed pathways are available (see Articulation and Pathways).

The program has been designed to benefit Dental Assistants who have successfully completed their Certificate III in Dental Assisting and this Certificate IV qualification from the National Training Package will provide you with the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required to safely, and effectively, perform the entry level roles and responsibilities of a Dental Assistant in the areas of Dental Radiography,The program combines both campus based training and training in the workplace. Your RMIT University teaching staff will liaise closely with your workplace supervisors to facilitate the training tto meet your individual learning needs.The program is delivered through a blended learning approach of;face to face classroom theory based subjects face to face practical sessions on the job training online learning activitiesPlease note:This program cannot be undertaken unless you are employed as dental assistant with appropriate employment in either a public or private dental practise.

The Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication will provide you with the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills for specialised and/or skilled work and/or further learning in the Marketing and Communication fields.Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:direct marketing officer market research assistant marketing coordinator marketing officer public relations officer media assistantIn addition to specialised skills, this program will also develop the core skills that you need to succeed in the workforce (see section on employability skills). In this program you will specifically be given a range of opportunities to communicate, connect, and work with students from a range of backgrounds.

This design qualification equips you with the potential to move on to higher levels of study. It is also a basic entry point to a design-based vocation by providing design knowledge and skills in visual communication and 3D design. These educational pathways may lead towards the following programs: Communication design, graphic design, graphic arts, multimedia, product design and visual merchandising, interior design and decoration, advertising. The program focuses on the investigation and development of design projects in a studio environment.

In this program you will develop the skills and knowledge required for the first line of management in a wide range of organisational and industry contexts. You may already have existing qualifications and technical skills in any given vocation or profession, yet require skills or recognition in supervisory functions.At this level frontline managers provide leadership and guidance to others and take responsibility for the effective functioning and performance of the team and its work outcomes.You will emerge with the knowledge and skills you need to progress through a management career by concentrating on the skills needed by managers.

The program objectives are:To develop your knowledge and technical skills essential for the Information Technology industry;To enable you to pursue a career in the areas of network technician, network administrator, network services administrator, network support coordinator, network security coordinator, it, administrator, it operations administrator.To provide a pathway for you into the Associate Degree in Information Technology

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will prepare you for employment in the training and assessment industry. Graduates are employed in a range of industry contexts, typically to:design and develop training programs deliver training programs assess training participants and those undergoing a Recognition of Prior Learning processCurrently graduates of this program are employed by a range of organisations including private Registered Training Organisations, government bodies, enterprises with internal training programs, community organisations and TAFE institutes. The program will provide you with a practical skills in training and assessment together with sound theoretical concepts in learning and assessment. In the program you will be encouraged to make connections with the program content and assessment tasks to your field of vocational expertise.

This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required by optical dispensers, to dispense and supply optical appliances as prescribed by optometrists and/or ophthalmologists in accordance with Australian Standards.The units of competency included in this qualification contribute to the gaining of an optical dispenser’s licence where this is required. Optical dispensers practice in a range of environments including optical dispensaries, optometric practices and laboratories. The objective of this program is for you to develop skills and knowledge needed in the Broadcast Television Industry for entry level technician and operational management roles.The areas of study include:Studio production including vision switching and multi-camera operation. Single camera digital video production in either ENG (electronic news gathering) or EFP (electronic field production). Digital video post production, graphics generation & effects. Lighting for studio & location. Audio recording for studio & location. Technical direction & operation of camera control units, EVS and specialised broadcast equipment.

The Certificate IV in Photography and Photo Imaging is designed to equip you with a broad range of photo imaging skills including lighting, image capture, enhancements, manipulation and output. The objective of the program is to develop your skills and knowledge of photo imaging through practical and theoretical exploration in areas including:Colour theory Design Digital output and printing Image capture Lighting techniquesThe program is skills based and industry focused and prepares you to work in studios or undertaking freelance or consultancy work. The focus of the program is to provide you with technical expertise in finished photography as well as to develop an understanding of concept development and the photographic process.
