Back to top Program aims The Graduate Certificate of Sport and Exercise (GCSE) aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop and extend their knowledge and skills relevant to health, fitness and sports performance across the lifespan to an advanced level. Students undertaking the program will usually have qualifications in various related disciplines (although any undergraduate degree is acceptable) or be students who have completed an undergraduate degree in the area of sport and exercise. The program, may be used to meet work or professional requirements, allow for program exemptions, or be part of course requirements in some postgraduate programs. The program is designed to meet personal achievement goals or provide for career opportunities within the health, sports and fitness industry such as sports coaches, personal trainers, sports development officers or a range of other roles.

The program aims to produce graduates who have an advanced awareness, understanding and appreciation of the complexities of rational thought, expression and behaviour they will encounter in a public relations career. Graduates will develop capacity for specialised inquiry and scholarship at a higher level. They will be able to apply their knowledge and skills in employment or community service, and have further enhanced their personal, cultural, creative and intellectual capacities.

Back to top Program aims The Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Coaching is designed for middle to senior corporate managers and to equip graduates with superior knowledge, skills and abilities that will help them to emerge as world-class leaders. It will provide a range of strong foundational courses for leaders wishing to further their studies within the leadership domain. Based on reflective thinking and problem solving, the program will be a niche offering in leadership that will enable graduates to examine and apply a broad range of leadership ideas and concepts. Importantly, the program will help leaders to learn about their own and others’ leadership styles, how to connect with people through practices of mindfulness and emotion and how to select from a range of leadership solutions that can be applied and adapted to real-world situations. Importantly, it will enable graduates to learn the know-how and know-why skills for leading change, and for coaching, that builds leadership capacity for dealing with a range of leader-led activities within a world of constant disruption.
