You will also learn about the security and access to food, and the social responsibility of a nutritionist.This course also provides clear career pathways for graduates seeking employment or postgraduate study in the area of Nutrition and Dietetics to deliver a high quality health service in a variety of settings.New Course Majors from 2021Dietetic PathwayThis pathway will allow you to study units which align to the prerequisite requirements for application to postgraduate programs including a Master of Dietetics or a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics in Australia. If you are interested in working with individuals or larger populations, this major will help you understand why and how the foods we eat impact on our health and wellbeing. Along with foundation nutrition science units, this major prepares you to understand the reasons why many health conditions have poor eating practices at their core, and provides an evidence-base for appropriate nutrition in chronic disease prevention. As a graduate of the dietetic pathway major, you may be eligible for registration with the Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA) as an Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) and, after further completion of relevant work experience, as a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr).Public Health NutritionThe focus of this major is on the prevention of diet-related disease and the promotion of optimal nutrition and health in populations. Whether you are interested in working at the grass-roots community level or on the global stage, this major will provide you with the theoretical and practical knowledge to protect and improve the health of communities. This major provides a pathway to the Master of Public Health at the University of Tasmania, and a career in public health and health advocacy, working with government, non-government organisations, industry, and community groups. As a graduate of the public health nutrition major, you may be eligible for registration with the Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA) as an Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) and, after further completion of relevant work experience, as a Registered Public Health Nutritionist (RPHNutr).Functional Foods and HealthFunctional foods are foods and beverages with ingredients that have evidence for providing beneficial effects on human health. The focus of this major is on developing practical and theoretical knowledge of the functional food industry from a nutrition and evidenced-based health perspective. Advances in technology and research are influencing food production practices resulting in human nutrition innovations that change the variety of food available to the consumer with health benefits. This major provides students with knowledge of the chemical composition of foods and their biological effects on the human body. Students will develop skills that prepare them to work in food science, health, supplement and nutrition industries, and government and regulatory agencies.

However, when Government guidelines change, on-campus studies will be reintroduced.The Bachelor of Education (Primary) is a pre-service teaching degree that prepares you for roles in Primary teaching, from Prep through to Grade 6. This course is accredited through the Tasmanian Teachers Registration Board, and is recognised in all states and territories, so once you graduate you’ll be qualified to teach anywhere in Australia.Throughout your degree, you will study core theoretical aspects and evidence-based practice. You will also investigate childhood development and behaviour, and study the various subjects you will be teaching. You’ll focus on literacy learning, including speaking, listening, reading and writing, while also studying other subjects, such as Mathematics, Science, Art and Music, and Health and Physical Education.You will be required to undertake a number of Professional Experience placements totalling 80 days. However, when Government guidelines change, on-campus studies will be reintroduced.Whether you’re looking to embark on a career at sea or take the next step into the maritime industry, an Ocean Seafaring degree is the gateway to working aboard vessels around the globe.The Australian Maritime College’s Bachelor of Applied Science (Nautical Science) degree will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to safely manage and operate any type of vessel in the merchant fleet. Our program integrates professional short courses and training at sea so that you will not only obtain a Bachelor’s degree, but also a Certificate of Competency issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).You will learn about navigation, vessel handling, cargo and passenger transport, vessel management, marine legislation and shipboard safety. Our program is also fully compliant with the training and educational requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention, as amended in 2010).Important note: Students intending to undertake units via the NSW Tafe Newcastle location are advised to check unit availability and the 'What will I enrol in' advice below as key dates and unit availability varies by delivery location. Computer science plays a key role in the creation, development, implementation and evaluation of technology. Society relies upon computer-based systems for the operation and support of services in finance, energy, transport, health, and communications. Note: The BCompSc (program code: 2425) has been discontinued from 2020, as the program has undergone a restructure and has a new program code for students commencing in 2021. Students commencing prior to 2021, should follow the course and program information for previous years. Transitional arrangements will be provided to students towards the later part of 2020. Students wanting to follow the 2021 structure will be required to program change and should seek academic advice prior to requesting the change.
