The Bachelor of Mathematics is a three-year program catering to high-achieving students seeking to develop a comprehensive specialised knowledge in a field of mathematics or a high level of sophistication in the applications of mathematics. Mathematics is one of the most enduring fields of study and has consistently been proven as essential in an expanding number of disciplines and professions. Modern computation, advances in scientific technology and the increasing production of data have all increased the scope for applications of mathematics well beyond the traditional areas of engineering and the physical sciences, to include fields such as finance, economics, information technology and molecular biology. Biotechnology (Honours)

Biotechnology applies scientific and engineering principles to living organisms in order to produce products and services of value to society. It is used in processes ranging from cheese production, brewing, and wastewater management, through to drug design and gene therapy. This program examines microorganisms, plants and animals in the context of the discovery, understanding, improvement and development of viable products or activities. The discipline combines elements from many areas such as molecular genetics, microbiology, immunology, physics, chemistry, engineering and mathematics. This program has been revised from 2021. Environmental Science (Honours)

Do you have the passion and drive to address the world's environmental challenges? To do so you will need a range of scientific skills and knowledge and an understanding of legal, political and social aspects of environmental management. Through the Bachelor of Environmental Science (Honours) you will address these topics and develop skills in systems analysis and planning. Study fundamental environmental processes, the way they can be described, monitored and predicted, and the effect of human impact on the physical and biological environment. This program has been revised from 2021. Engineering (Honours)

UQ's engineering program offers the largest choice of engineering in Queensland. The flexible curriculum equips students to work in both established and newly emerging fields. In addition to technical expertise, the program emphasises essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, project management and problem-solving. The UQ engineering degree is widely accredited and equips students to work both in Australia and overseas. Note: The BE(Hons) (program code: 2342) has been discontinued from 2020, as the program has undergone a restructure and has a new program code for students commencing in 2021. Students commencing prior to 2021, should follow the course and program information for previous years. Transitional arrangements will be provided to students towards the later part of 2020. Students wanting to follow the 2021 structure will be required to program change and should seek academic advice prior to requesting the change. Humanities/Laws (Honours)

This dual degree allows you to combine studies in law with a Bachelor of Humanities (BHum) specialising in the study of Western Civilisation. The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (LLB(Hons)) degree is your passport to success in the employment market: as a barrister or solicitor, prosecutor of crime, community lawyer, legal officer in public service, or in-house counsel for a large corporation. You will gain a thorough understanding of the concepts, principles, policies and values of the law both in Australia and other jurisdictions. It will also see you develop outstanding skills in critical analysis, thought and argument, which will be valuable in your chosen career. Your BHum studies will provide opportunities to immerse yourself in a creative and diverse curriculum with a strong critical focus on the key intellectual movements that have shaped Western Civilisation from antiquity to the current day. The BHum will equip you with knowledge and insights applicable to many of the problems that societies face today, and the collaborative and persuasive skills to bring about meaningful change. Due to a staged rollout process, courses in Western Civilisation will be limited in 2020, increasing in 2021.
