MJRU-PUBRL v.1 Public Relations Major (BCom)

This major places special emphasis on relationship management in all sectors of organisational activity. It prepares students for involvement in primary decision- making that originates policies, products and services which become the basis of relationships, whilst preparing them for major communications roles. The public relations major – whether taken as part of a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Arts – is accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Australia. Professional Recognition Graduates in public relations majors meet the academic requirements for membership of the Public Relations Institute of Australia. Course Accreditation Status This course is accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Australia. Major Overview Note Students choosing this major within the Bachelor of Arts degree will also choose another major or an elective stream. Choosing a second major allows students to study in an additional discipline area. Students studying Professional Writing and Publishing as their primary major will study their first year with the STRU-BAMCC Media, Culture and Creative Arts First Year Stream. MJRU-PHYSI v.3 Physics Major (BSc Science)

Students choose to study Physics because they are fascinated by fundamental questions about the physical structures and functions in our universe. Physics seeks to explain relationships between the smallest through to the largest structures, utilising the four known Strong, Weak, Electromagnetic and Gravitational forces. Students gain considerable knowledge and skills while conducting physical science experiments and solving real-world problems analytically or computationally, which find application in a wide range of careers. The Physics Major (400 credit points) is supplemented by one of four 200-credit point specialisations, which are aligned with the Departmental research strengths. The four specialisations are: Astrophysics, Environmental Physics, Materials Science and Mathematical Physics. Professional Recognition Graduates of this course may be eligible for membership to the Australian Institute of Physics.

Students will learn professional skills tailored towards their interest in the area of image making. Exploration, interpretation, development and realisation of ideas for both commercial and personal outcomes will be addressed in this major.
