The Master of Public Policy (MPP) is a two-year full time postgraduate program for current and aspiring policy actors. The program is designed to support your development as a professional policy actor in the ‘art and craft’ of policy making able to work effectively across both government and non-government sectors. Politics, governance and uncertainty shape policy responses to complex issues and social problems, and the new and enduring challenges facing communities locally, nationally and globally. The program will provide you with transferrable skills for making policy, thinking and planning strategically, using evidence to shape decisions, leading and managing change, advocacy and representation, and developing ethical and reflective practice.The MPP program of study is informed by RMIT’s unique approach to meeting the challenge of being ready for life and work: offering an education deeply grounded in ideas and cross-disciplinary understanding, applied through innovative, enterprising practice to solving problems and meeting the needs of our community. This means your study of public policy will combine a mix of robust and challenging theoretical ideas drawn from the social sciences to support your critical thinking and research capacity development, workshop engagement with key tools and techniques for contemporary policy making and individual, industry-based policy research experience. You are able to complete the program face to face or a blend of face to face and online.A capstone experience designed around a research project relating to your professional context will enable you to synthesize and integrate your knowledge, connect theory and practice as well as demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes. You will creatively explore real-world issues, simulating the role of policy worker in the professional practice context.The program is designed to support your professional development as a policy change agent, able to confidently engage fully with complex problems, incorporate cross disciplinary knowledge and partners, use innovative and enterprising ideas and have the courage to deliver just and sustainable change.
Master of Medical Physics

The Master of Medical Physics is designed for physical scientists seeking specialist knowledge and skills in the field of medical physics.You will develop knowledge of contemporary technological capabilities in diagnostic and therapeutic applications of radiation and other physical phenomena. You will be able to apply high level cognitive skills to the performance evaluation of medical equipment, analyse outputs, and diagnose problems. With initiative and a high degree of independence, you will be instrumental in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and translation of research into professional practice. Your communication skills will position you as an important advisor to a team of professionals including oncologists, radiologists, therapists, technologists and biomedical engineers. Through the completion of a substantial research project in collaboration with an external institution, you will apply your specialised expertise to design and conduct research that addresses practical challenges facing scientists in this field.As a graduate of this program, you will have the knowledge and skills necessary for employment as a professional Medical Physicist in the fields of Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging or as a Radiation Safety specialist or Health Physicist in occupational or environmental radiation protection. This program meets the postgraduate tertiary education component of the requirements for Certification as a Medical Physicist by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine. It will also provide the opportunity to undertake a PhD by research, subject to higher degree (research) entry requirements.BIOL2485 Research Project A (Planning) and BIOL2328 Research Project B (Implementation) serve as a capstone experience in Year 2 of your program - the culmination of your medical physics studies. You will either identify a research project from a workplace scenario you have encountered or will be selecting a topic your academic supervisors or industry collaborators have proposed in relation to their research activities or clinical responsibilities. Your research project will have an industry consultant as a co-supervisor who will jointly assess the research project outcomes with the academic supervisor.This program requires on campus attendance both at the City and Bundoora campuses with the majority of courses delivered at the City campus. It includes both face-to-face and on-line learning and teaching components.
Master of Translating and Interpreting

This program has been designed for you to develop and enhance professional translating and/or interpreting skills and sound knowledge of related theoretical approaches and industrial issues. It will prepare you to work as a professional translator and/or interpreter in both domestic and international contexts.You will critically engage with relevant professional and theoretical debates and develop skills in translating and interpreting. While acquiring this knowledge and skills you will learn to investigate emerging trends and apply these to your practice, including appropriate current technologies. This suite of skills and experience will underpin and inform your research and critical assessment of complex industry directions and issues, as well as the academic discipline. A capstone experience based on an individually negotiated professional practice project will enable you to work independently in a simulated environment and receive feedback from an experienced practitioner. This project will synthesize your knowledge, connect theory and practice as well as demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes.On completion of the program, you will automatically be eligible to access NAATI relevant certification exam(s) for a translator and/or interpreter. If you are successful in the certification exam(s), you will be eligible to work in the fields of public services, legal, health, business, security and international relations.This program is designed to develop your skills and knowledge in global contexts for research and life-long learning to enable you to confidently contribute to an industry that is always evolving. You will use innovative applications of communication technology to support translating and/or interpreting and practice and gain insight into your own practice. You will develop efficient work practices at high professional standards to allow you to plan, produce and deliver interpreting and translating projects.
Master of Fashion (Entrepreneurship)
