The Bachelor of Laws degree is offered as a three year full-time graduate program or as a five year full-time program offered in combination with other degree programs: Bachelor of Aboriginal Professional Practice, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Communication, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Social Science. The Bachelor of Laws degree meets the academic requirements needed to gain admission to the practice of law in New South Wales. As well as providing the academic basis for admission to legal practice, law is now regarded as a useful general education, fostering understanding of how society functions, and developing skills of analytical and logical reasoning.During the first three years, combined degree students enrol in the courses offered by the Faculty of Business and Law as part of the Bachelor of Laws (LLB program), as well as courses within other Faculties to complete one of the seven degrees taken in combination with the LLB. During the final two years they enrol in LAWS courses only. For information about the non-Law degrees and patterns of study for the combined degrees, refer to the relevant program entries.Students who already hold a Bachelor's degree undertake the graduate LLB program over three years full-time study.

Within this combined degree program, students study a combination of Arts and Law courses over a period of five years full-time. On completion of the first three years students will have completed all the courses required for the Bachelor of Arts degree. In the final two years of the combined degree program students complete the requirements of the Bachelor of Laws and may enrol in these two years on a less than full time basis.Students completing this combined degree meet the requirements to practise law in NSW, and acquire skills and knowledge through the Arts studies they have chosen. You can major or minor in the following Arts areas (C - Callaghan campus, O - Ourimbah campus): - Aboriginal Studies (C) - Ancient History and Classical Languages (C) - Chinese (C)(Minor only. The Chinese major is available to pre-2012 continuing students only.) - Creative and Performing Arts (C, O) - English and Writing (C, O) - Film, Media and Cultural Studies (C, Flexible Delivery) - French Studies (C) - German (C) - History (C, O) - Human Geography and the Environment (C) - Japanese Studies (C) - Linguistics (C) - Philosophy and Religion (C) - Politics and International Relations (C, O) - Psychology Studies (C, O) - Sociology and Anthropology (C, O).Students wishing to practise law must also complete postgraduate professional training approved by the Legal Profession Admission Board. Alternatively, students completing this degree may apply for entry to the Bachelor of Laws/Diploma of Legal Practice Program - see separate handbook entry - which allows immediate admission to legal practice on graduation.Commencement in this program is only available in Semester 1. Due to timetabling issues this program is not available for a Semester 2 commencement.

Students who perform well, with a GPA of 5.0 or greater, during the Bachelor of Arts degree may undertake a further year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) study to obtain an Honours degree. The Honours degree allows students to further develop their specific areas of interest.The Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) approved sequence in Psychology is no longer available in this program. If you have a 3 year APAC accredited psychology qualification please apply for the accredited Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) program.

This course prepares graduates for eligibility to apply for registration throughout Australia as a registered nurse. The focus of the course is on inquiry-based learning, critical thinking and reflective practice in relation to the theory and practice of nursing in health and health breakdown across the lifespan. Students study the application of physical and behavioural sciences to nursing; inquiry and evidence-based practice principles and utilisation within nursing; nursing care of individuals, families and groups from diverse backgrounds across the lifespan. The acquisition of nursing knowledge and skills occurs initially in campus-based simulated clinical practice settings and consolidation occurs as students undertake clinical placements in a variety of health care settings. Prospective students should be aware that full disclosure of any issues of impairment or misconduct is a declaration requirement when applying for registration as a registered nurse. Students should also be aware that the regulatory authority (the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia) may have additional criteria that the student will need to meet prior to registration to practice being granted such as an English language skills registration standard is also applicable to all students applying for registrationStudents in the Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced) will follow a similar study program set out for the Bachelor of Nursing. However, there will be six units of study that engage students in additional learning, assessment and professional practice activities and opportunities. Each student will be allocated an Academic Mentor at the beginning of the second year of the program. Students are encouraged to participate in scholarly activities that will further enhance their knowledge and skills.To maintain their enrolment in the Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced) students must maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.5 or above, otherwise they will be transferred to the 4691 – Bachelor of Nursing course. At enrolment students will be required to sign a declaration acknowledging the requirement to maintain a GPA greater than or equal to 5.5.The Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced) does not offer Recognition of Prior Learning credit except if transferring from the 4691 Bachelor of Nursing.Accreditation The Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced) has accreditation and approval from the Nurses and Midwives Board NSW. From 1 July 2010 the approval, recognition and accreditation of courses has been transferred to the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC).
