The Bachelor of Fashion (Design Technology) is offered to applicants who have completed an Associate Degree in Fashion or applicants who have an equivalent qualification.This degree builds on the skills and knowledge you have developed in the two year Associate Degree in Fashion (Design and Technology). The degree enables you to operate creatively and with relevance in the fashion industry. Your studies will focus on fashion design, production and digital technology, and will equip you to be a technically proficient member of the fashion industry with a perspective oriented toward the future of fashion.The courses in the program are designed to enable you to gain advanced knowledge and capabilities in a specialised area of fashion. This will encompass an introduction to research, design development, pattern design, digital technology and garment construction. The primary mode of delivery is face-to-face and the methods of teaching include tasks that ask you consider the use of technology in the production of fashion. This degree consists of theoretical, technical and practical courses delivered in an industry-simulated work environment, where KA: Correctedyour knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.This degree will also provide you with an advanced knowledge and capabilities in social, global and sustainability issues related to fashion design, production and digital technology in the contemporary and future fashion system. In your final year you will undertake a capstone experience in GRAP2758 Fashion Project - Collection. This experience will enable you to synthesise and integrate your knowledge, connect theory and practice, and demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes.Upon successful completion of this program you will have developed work ready capabilities to promote yourself to prospective employers or potential clients in a local or global context. As a graduate of the Bachelor of Fashion (Design Technology) you can expect to be employed in fashion and product design, pattern design, product development and production management.

Bachelor of Legal and Dispute Studies

This program is focused on law in its social and political context. You will study law from a number of local and global perspectives including policy, politics and sociology, as well as the mechanisms for change in legal systems. You will learn about topical areas of legal practice in labour relations law, civil law, criminal law and evidence law, laws relating to information, family law, international human rights, and civil procedure. In particular, you will engage with primary dispute resolution processes that offer alternative mechanisms for resolving legal disputes.You will also consider the cultural context of professional practice and communication. You can specialise by taking by taking an optional minor (area of specialisation) in law, dispute resolution, youth justice, policy, advocacy, investigations, case management, social work, and criminal justice streams. In your final year, you will be provided with a capstone experience in the 50 day HWSS2181 Justice and Legal Internship in a relevant organisation through which you will integrate and synthesise your knowledge, connect theory to practice, and demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes.You will gain skills in research, primary dispute resolution, mediation and policy analysis, and you will discover the growing significance of human rights in legal practice, government, business, and the community. The program will assist you to develop analytical and communication skills that can be applied in a range of practical contexts.As a graduate of the program, you will work in diverse areas such as the Department of Justice, and the Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria, the Department of Health, dispute settlement centres, the courts and tribunals, law offices, legal aid, as well as local government and community centres, activist organisations, human rights organisations and other international organisations. You can apply your skills in areas as diverse as the media, government and policy, the arts, communications, project management, finance, engineering, banking, industry associations, and non-governmental organisations. You can progress to further study in law, justice, mediation and negotiation.Successful completion of this program provides a pathway into a Masters. Upon successful completion of this program you may also be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University.

This program, Bachelor of Design (Animation and Interactive Media), offers you a degree in the design and production of animation and interactive media. It combines industry-based knowledge and professional skills with theory in linear and interactive animation. The program offers you a creative and supportive environment of design endeavour. It emphasises intellectual investigation and creative conceptual development. In this program you will build from a base of animation and design knowledge and skills. You will then choose a specialisation in:animation and interactive design, including animation (2D and 3D), motion graphics, special effects, interactive media.You will experience a variety of interactive learning and teaching approaches. These will be both face-to-face and online. There is a combination of studios, lectures and production workshops. You will engage in individual and team projects using industry-standard software, tools and processes. In the final year of this program you will undertake a major project as a capstone experience. This will enable you to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the program. On successful completion of this program you will be a professional practitioner in the design and development of animation and interactive media. This may involve:developing content for business and communications and entertainment industries analysing issues, applying creative processes, working with others and communicating informed ideas applying independent judgement to problems relating to innovative design, conceptual development and production.Graduates of this program will be prepared for diverse roles, both local and international. These roles may include: animators, 3D visualisers and modellers, web designers, interface designers, motion graphic designers, game art developers and data visualisers.

The Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) program has been designed to assist in the development of your artistic and creative skills within a diverse range of practical and theoretical activities, located in the broad professional area of Fine Art practice. You will also develop hands-on skills to undertake and initiate independent investigations as an integral part of your professional and artistic development.The BA (Fine Art) program has specialised areas of study and making. You will develop a deep understanding of one or more of these specialised areas: Ceramics, Painting, Photography, Sculpture and Art: Histoy+Theory+Cultures. The food technology and nutrition program is about the science of manufacturing food and making it safe and nutritious.In this program you learn to turn raw materials such as milk and cereal grains into food products such as ice-cream and breakfast cereals. You also learn to improve the quality of our manufactured food supply, creating safe and nutritious foods that taste good and have a long shelf life.This program prepares you for work in the food industry. You are trained in the full range of theoretical and practical aspects of food technology and nutrition science. You’ll be able to develop novel, healthy and functional food products that meet the consumer demands as well as industry’s strict safety and health guidelines.Your capstone experience will occur in courses ONPS2509 Food Safety and Quality Assurance, ONPS2496 Product Development and/or ONPS2515 Community Nutrition where all you have learned in previous courses comes together to ensure healthy, nutritious and safe products. We address the whole life cycle of the food industry, meaning that our graduates are job-ready to meet food industry needs.You have the choice between a food technology major and a nutrition major. In the first year of study you will take foundation courses such as chemistry and microbiology, and are introduced to food processing and nutrition. Later your studies focus more on courses related to your major. The nutrition major focuses on human health and nutrition courses while the food technology major deals with traditional and novel technologies employed in the manufacture of food products, as well as sensory evaluation of foods, product development and quality assurance.Courses in this program are taught face to face on the City campus (first three semesters) and Bundoora campus (last three semesters).This program is for you if you’re interested in:Becoming the owner or manager of a food and/or food ingredient manufacturing company Working in a large food processing company Developing new food products with nutrition at their core Developing food management programs for schools or healthcare facilities As an entry point for further study in dietetics.

The program bridges traditional disciplinary boundaries to address the most pressing issues of the new century: ways of managing and adapting to a changing environment.This program emphasises the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to work effectively in the fields of environmental science, environmental management, and environmental education, and provides opportunities for graduates to work in government agencies, the corporate sector or environmental consultancies or non-government organisations. You will have the opportunity to develop in-depth understanding of underlying principles and concepts in one of two areas: Environmental Chemistry, or Environmental Biology, You will learn how to interpret scientific inquiry and effectively distil and communicate the implications of scientific research to a wide range of audiences.The Social Science courses are designed to develop your knowledge of the social, cultural and political processes that influence the ways in which people and communities respond to the non-human world. The Bachelor of Environmental Science degree program at RMIT is designed to produce graduates with a broad and coherent body of knowledge in Earth system processes, especially the hydrosphere, biosphere, atmosphere and lithosphere and the impacts of humans on our environment. Graduates have gained expensive fieldwork experience and demonstrated their work-readiness by completion of two final year, capstone, work integrated learning courses (ENVI1145 Environmental Sampling and Analysis and ONPS2186 Science Project) that require them to work in multidisciplinary teams and learn to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.You will complete a minor in either Environmental Biology or Environmental Chemistry and will either specialise in, or developed breadth across, the other available minors, including Geosciences (Environmental Engineering) and Geospacial Sciences.Our graduates are therefore well prepared for the types of postions available in workplaces such as in environmental consultancies, government agencies, resource management, research, education and in the mining / manufacturing industries.Inherent Program RequirementsThis program requires face to face attendance at the RMIT City campus and has an externsive range of fieldwork that can require you to traverse rough ground, work in unpleasant weather conditions and/or from the deck of a boat.

Youth workers work with young people individually, in groups, and in a variety of roles as advocates. The Bachelor of Social Science (Youth Work) program focuses on teaching youth work within a social science context. This means exploring the social, political, policy and other environments in which both young people and youth work are situated, equipping graduate to be informed professionals who understand connections between theory and practice.The program also focuses on equipping graduates with the skill to make good ethical and other informed judgements in their professional practice. In the program, you will experience a variety of interactive learning and teaching approaches, both face to face and online. These include formal lectures, workshops, experiential learning and WIL. The second and third years of the program include field education experience in an Australian or International youth service.The program will prepare you as a graduate for entry-level employment in a wide variety of organisations in Australia and overseas which provide services and advocate for young people. These include dedicated youth services, local governments, health services, major welfare agencies, educational institutions, government agencies and a range of national and international organisations. In this context, students are prepared for a range of roles, including service-delivery (for example in accommodation, drug and alcohol, and youth justice settings), advocacy, planning, program design, management and policy development.
