Bachelor of Paramedic Practice with Honours

Bachelor of Health (Professional Honours)

This course is designed for students who already hold a bachelor's degree in any clinical specialty to prepare them for conducting research into issues facing health services. It is part of the University's translational research agenda, which recognises that staff conducting applied research in a health or human services facility need a solid foundation in both the wider context of quality improvement and reform and in research methods that support the credibility of this research and its application to the broader community of practice. Dissemination to this community will also be supported by providing students with an opportunity to draft papers for eventual publication.

Bachelor of Health Science with Honours

The Honours degree in Health Science is designed to provide students with the foundations necessary for research in Health Science disciplines and to gain greater expertise during two semesters full-time study (or equivalent). Candidates will be required to submit a research thesis on work undertaken as part of the honours course.All candidates will be required to study a unit in statistics and data handling and another unit negotiated with the School. Other requirements for the course include a literature review directly related to the thesis, and a dissertation. Students will be required to present their research work at a seminar.

Bachelor of Medical Research with Honours

The Honours program in Medical Research is designed to provide students with a firm foundation for postgraduate study in Medical Research. For students not wishing to progress further, the opportunity to undertake an in-depth research project will provide an important understanding of the processes of medical research. Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours

(Graduate program) This on-campus Graduate Honours course is offered at Hobart as a separate one-year (full-time) or two-year (part-time) course.Honours consists of planning and conducting a research project leading to a thesis. Students who have an interest in research may undertake Graduate Honours either full or part-time following graduation. An Honours degree in Pharmacy enhances career opportunities and is the usual prerequisite for further study for a research higher degree (Master of Pharmacy or Doctor of Philosophy). Research Higher Degrees are generally expected for positions in the pharmaceutical industry, academia or government regulatory agencies.Graduate Honours consists of a planning and conducting a research project under the supervision of academic staff at the Division of Pharmacy, School of Medicine. Students identify a suitable project and conduct a review of the scientific literature to provide a rationale for their project, develop a research plan with their supervisors, conduct the project and prepare a research thesis. Bachelor of Dementia Care

What is the Dementia Care Program?The Dementia Care Program offers Australia's first degree in dementia care. It is available to domestic and international students, from carers to health professionals and anyone with an interest in studying dementia. This course will develop your specialised knowledge in this field so that you can make a difference to the lives of people living with dementia.This is a fully online course with no exams, face to face study, or workplace assessment component. Dedicated Student Advisers are on-hand throughout the course, providing support and guidance throughout your studies. Our program can be studied full-time or part-time, offering you a choice to graduate with a:Diploma (8 units, completed over a maximum of 3 years)Associate Degree (16 units, completed over a maximum of 5 years)Bachelor Degree (24 units, completed over a maximum of 7 years)Students may study part-time (1-2 units) or full-time (3-4 units) per semester. Students are advised to approximately 10 hours of study per week per unit of study. There are no formal examinations, all assessments occur throughout the semester.Assessments may include quizzes, assessed discussion boards, essays or reports, presentations.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

This on-campus full time course takes a minimum of five (5) years to complete. Years 1-3 of the course are based in Hobart at the Medical Science Precinct, with short placements in rural communities around the State.In Years 4 and 5, students have the opportunity to complete their degree at the Hobart Clinical School, the Launceston Clinical School or the Rural Clinical School in Burnie. Years 4 and 5 will involve a series of clinical rotations, including some electives.

Due to the circumstances around COVID-19, you will begin your studies online. However, when Government guidelines change, on-campus studies will be reintroduced.The Bachelor of Laws with Honours provides a comprehensive program which allows candidates to advance their knowledge of legal principles and concepts gained to date in their Bachelor of Laws. There is a strong independent research component in the degree which will advance students’ achievement of all threshold learning outcomes for law (knowledge, ethics, thinking skills, research, communication and self-management). All candidates must complete a research methods unit and further research requirements as outlined in the Course Rules.Candidates will be offered admission to the Bachelor of Laws with Honours in their final year of Law study if they meet the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement of 5.20 in their law studies to date in accordance to the Course Rules. A candidate with a GPA of 5.80 or above will be offered admission to the First Class Honours stream. The award of an Honours degree in Law requires the achievement of the requisite minimum GPA as outlined in the Course Rules. The Bachelor of Laws with Honours will provide an understanding of research principles and methods and provide a pathway for those seeking to undertake postgraduate research.Students are invited to transfer to the Bachelor of Laws with Honours (L4W), four year program, in their final year of study.
