Bachelor of Laws

The Bachelor of Laws program is accredited by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board as meeting the educational requirements for admission to practice as an Australian lawyer. You will be able to be admitted to practice after completing a recognised Practical Legal Training course (6 months); or supervised workplace training with a law firm (12 months).By completing the Bachelor of Laws program you will possess a detailed and comprehensive knowledge of the Australian legal framework and fundamental legal principles, an understanding of comparative and international legal systems, an understanding of the ethical framework in which the Australian legal system operates, and a fundamental knowledge of the extra-legal factors impinging upon the substantive law. Career development learning is scaffolded across early, mid and late stages of the program.Learning activities and experiences in this program include case-based learning with students encouraged to engage in critical discussion in seminars and online forums, supplemented by active, authentic experiential learning opportunities in various simulations that develop legal skills. These simulations include writing briefs and other legal documents, mooting, and negotiation and mediation skills. These are integrated into most substantive law courses to ensure that students develop the requisite skills in close connection with the legal knowledge. Clinical legal education and industry placement opportunities are also provided.A capstone experience will be provided in the course LAW2591 Law of Evidence (12 credit points) which will give students the opportunity to critically reflect on the curriculum of this program. The course promotes the integration and synthesis of a range of knowledge and skills gained in the program and the application of these in discipline related real-world scenarios. This program is delivered on-campus.

Bachelor of Business (Blockchain Enabled Business)

The Bachelor of Business (Blockchain Enabled Business) program provides the knowledge and skills required in the application and management of blockchain and other distributed-ledger technologies (DLTs) in management and of public and private enterprises through a multi-disciplinary curriculum involving in-depth theoretical and practical learning and professional training, combined with generalist business studies in statistics, accounting, marketing, management, and business IT.The program is delivered on-campus through face-to-face teaching and learning, with some online components, where you will be engaged in a variety of learning experiences, including lectures and tutorials, individual assignments, collaborative team-based projects, presentations, and simulation activities. Assessments may include formal examinations, written assignments, presentations, evaluation of case studies, projects, and in-class tests.The final year of the program includes the capstone course ECON1561 Blockchain Application Project, which will provide you the opportunity to critically reflect on, consolidate and apply the theoretical approaches and work practice experiences gained throughout the program. This capstone course in discipline related real-world scenarios, will provide you with the skills and attributes necessary for work-readiness in your chosen career field or to progress successfully to further studies at the graduate level.This program will prepare you to work in a globalised, international context as a business analyst, consultant, advisor or project leader in the many and varied business sectors that adopt distributed ledger technology, including finance, banking, health, trade, supply chain and logistics, and a range of government agencies and services requiring high level, technical expertise in DLTs; or for postgraduate studies and possible employment in tertiary education and academia.

Bachelor of International Studies

You will draw upon the knowledge and skills developed throughout the degree and apply them in an industry setting, enabling you to gain workplace experience and to begin your transition to a professional career and/or further study.On completion of the program you will be a versatile, articulate and imaginative thinker, oriented to begin an internationally orientated career. You will be knowledgeable about global intercultural, social, linguistic and political issues and processes, and possess initiative, independence, and entrepreneurial skills.You will have opportunities throughout the program to gain a sense of professional direction and consider possible employment futures. Bachelor of Analytics

This program provides you with complementary skills in analytics, tapping into studies in statistics, operations research, computer science, information technologies, business, economics, finance and marketing. Combining the expertise of several schools across the College of Science, Engineering and Health and the College of Business, the Bachelor of Analytics prepares you for statistical analysis in the business world. The flexibility of the program, allowing you to choose from a diverse range of electives, combined with a core of statistics and operations research, will enable you to specialise in the areas that will assist you in the future. A strong focus of the program is consulting and work-integrated learning. MATH2302 Analytics in Industry 1 and MATH2303 Analytics in Industry 2 serve as a year-long capstone experience combining work-integrated learning with applied research bringing all your learning together in a summative and practical way. This assists you through exposure to industry projects and problems that provide you with hands on examples for the development of your analytic capabilities. Bachelor of Space Science

Space is a USD$345 billion global industry which has doubled over the previous decade, with strong growth expected to continue in the medium term. To better capitalise on both local and global growth opportunities, the Australian Space Agency was created in mid-2018, spawning a new era of growth and innovation for the Australian space industry. The Australian Space Agency has a goal of tripling the size of Australia’s space sector to $12B and growing the workforce from the current 10,000 FTE to 20,000 by 2030.This program allows you to prepare for an exciting career in the space industry. In addition to physics, you will study complementary courses in satellite remote sensing, IT and data analytics, signal and systems engineering as well as spaceflight systems design. These interdisciplinary linkages will provide you with the basic building blocks of scientific knowledge and engineering fundamentals in the field of space science and technology. Knowledge is always complemented with practical experiences in laboratory and modelling courses. Since mathematics provides the necessary scaffolding for doing space science, two mathematics and one statistics courses (Calculus and Analysis 1 and 2, and Data Preprocessing) are also core courses in the space science program. Combining the expertise of the Schools of Science and Engineering from the College of Science, Engineering and Health, the Bachelor of Space Science prepares you to meet the challenges of a fast-moving and technology-driven space industry.A strong focus of the program is WIL. Your capstone WIL experience will be either The Professional Scientist ONPS2335 or Science Work Experience 1 ONPS2543, and Science Project 1 ONPS2186 where you will use all your knowledge and skills to work, perhaps in teams, to develop and implement your own research project.Further course selection can be individualised to an extent by taking other university-wide elective courses offered by the University. You will study fashion design in a context that is both global and contemporary, and you will acquire cross-disciplinary skills and techniques to enable you to work sustainably and ethically, with cultural and social awareness, in order to drive design innovation and industry change. The program will provide you with the necessary foundation that will enable you to further specialise, advance and apply your knowledge in fashion design as an emerging designer, either in industry or via further study.The primary mode of learning is through studio practice, and courses within the program use diverse studio activities and experiences as a way for you to achieve the various learning outcomes of the program and to attain a comprehensive range of practical, theoretical and technical skills and knowledge in fashion design. Learning activities and experiences are designed with authentic industry and discipline contexts in mind, and all are aimed at developing a thorough range of fashion design skills and knowledge. From the first year of the program you will be exposed to the key methods and approaches to fashion design across diverse contexts. In the following years of the program, through various studio projects, you will analyse and evaluate diverse aspects of the design industry, further sharpen your design skills and techniques, and develop your critical thinking in response to the challenges posed by existing, emerging and speculative markets, consumers and personas. You will have the opportunity to engage with international guest lecturers in seminars, workshops or other learning experiences or through an industry review of their projects. In this course you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your acquired knowledge and skills in fashion design by participating in, collaborating with or reflecting on current industry or disciplinary practices. You will produce an individual contemporary fashion collection or project presented to industry or a related discipline context, and demonstrate your acquisition of the cognitive, technical and communication skills of a fashion designer.Graduates enter into a variety of professional roles in the fashion design industries and related disciplinary contexts. These are fashion design roles across commercial practice, niche fashion areas, emerging design markets, contemporary luxury industries, and cross disciplinary subsectors of the fashion design industry. These roles are in national and international small to large scale fashion enterprises, emerging international fashion brands, luxury and high fashion brands, as well as in related disciplines contexts of fashion design, production, communications, creative direction and styling, branding, buying, media, publications and textile and product development.

Bachelor of Fashion (Enterprise)

It provides specialised skills within the broad field of fashion enterprise and a deeper understanding of fashion retail management, fashion marketing management and fashion product management.The program aims to develop you as a fashion enterprise professional who will have the skills, insights and mindset to succeed in the dynamic and demanding global fashion industry.The program is offered on campus in a face-to-face mode of delivery. You will experience a variety of interactive learning and teaching approaches, both face to face and online, that include: work integrated learning (WIL) opportunities; problem-based learning; case-study methods; fashion business simulations; and global mobility opportunities.This program builds the skills, knowledge and your ability to apply these in the workplace of a large, medium or small global fashion enterprise. Academic and employability capabilities such as: independent learning; critical and creative thinking; task and deadline management; reflective practice and research skills are focused upon, given that industry research has deemed that these are some of the primary requisites for an entry-level position within the global fashion industry.A capstone experience is provided in BUSM4798 Fashion Project Launch. In this course, you will integrate and synthesise your knowledge, connect theory to practice and demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes. This is a self-directed project of your own choice during which you will benefit from the mentorship of teachers and industry professionals.On successful completion of the program you have opportunities to enter into a variety of professional roles within the global Fashion and Textiles industry, in areas such as product management, distribution, buying, marketing, retail, and digital analysis and promotion across the diverse sectors of entrepreneurial fashion practice, niche fashion areas, emerging markets and techniques across the fashion industry. There are also opportunities to begin your own start-up enterprise or pursue further studies at postgraduate level.The program also provides opportunities for you to undertake Global study tours and/or exchange programs. Upon successful completion of this program, you may also be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University.

Bachelor of Fashion and Textiles (Sustainable Innovation)

This requires user-centred and interdisciplinary approaches at the intersection of design, technology, science and art.The Bachelor of Fashion and Textiles (Sustainable Innovation) program provides you with the capabilities to work in diverse roles across the field of fashion and textiles sustainable innovation. You will learn about ethical and sustainable production practices, digital technologies, material innovations and wearables. As you progress through the degree, you can choose to specialise in at least one of these areas and/or complement your skills through developing a Minor specialisation from another Fashion and Textiles program in fashion design, textile design or fashion enterprise.You will learn through making and doing. You will experience a variety of contemporary learning opportunities, both face-to-face and online, as a way for you to attain a comprehensive range of practical, theoretical and technical skills and knowledge, that reflect real-world industry situations. Approaches include: project-based activities, working to an industry brief (both problem-solving and speculative), prototyping, Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) and global mobility opportunities.In your final semester, you will undertake a capstone experience in MANU2506 Fashion and Textiles Sustainable Innovation Project Launch. In this course you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your acquired knowledge and skills in fashion and textiles sustainable innovation by participating in, collaborating with or reflecting on current industry or disciplinary practices.On successful completion of the program, you have opportunities to enter into a variety of professional roles in the global fashion and textiles industry in areas of sustainability, technical textiles, sportswear, protective clothing, research and innovation, as well as aligned industries such as health and automotive. There are also opportunities to begin your own start-up enterprise or pursue further studies at honours and/or postgraduate level. The program is delivered face-to-face on the Brunswick campus.

Bachelor of Digital Film and Video

This program will immerse you in both critical and creative approaches to film- and video-making. It is delivered in face-to-face mode and comprises three main strands:Film-/Video-making: narrative development, screenwriting, directing, producing and major project execution. Technical Studio: camerawork, editing, lighting, sound and production management. Concepts & Debates: contemporary themes, issues and practices in film and video.This program accords with the requirements of Australian Qualifications Framework level 7 (Bachelor degree program). The program emphasises experiential learning – that is, learning experiences that will enable you to develop as a competent practitioner – and features two main work integrated learning (WIL) components:COMM2823: Digital Film and Video: Capstone Project, a final year capstone project that integrates knowledge and skills via a project-based learning experience. COMM2695: Media and Communication Internship, a workplace internship that applies preceding experiential learning to an authentic workplace environment.In addition to these intensive work-integrated experiences, you will engage in learning activities and assignment work throughout the program that simulate – and are closely aligned with – authentic professional contexts, scenarios and activities. As you continue to acquire skills specific to the discipline of film-making and video production, you will also develop professional behaviours and attitudes and transferable skills such as project and group work, problem-solving, creative and critical thinking, communication and active inquiry.
