This program provides you the knowledge and adaptable analytical skills required in the accounting and finance service sector. The program adopts a broad-based multidisciplinary approach to help you develop excellent technical, analytical, practical and creative skills and knowledge in the financial planning area and professional accounting practice. While accountants and financial planners are increasingly working together in a wide range of areas (including assurance, consulting, taxation and business ethics) to provide financial advice in existing business models, you will also develop the skills required to provide service that adds clear value for clients. The main focus of the program is to develop a thorough understanding of financial products, risk management and investment strategies. Other aims include developing core skills to achieve a financial planner licence and expose you to the dynamic regulatory and legal environment in Australia. As a graduate of this program you will be prepared to deliver key financial and accounting services relating to personal financial planning, taxation, estate planning, insurance planning and investment and social security planning. This unique program is designed to equip you with the financial planning skills and accounting knowledge required to provide professional advice in accounting, investment planning, taxation, estate planning, income tax, risk management and business reporting and ethics.The capstone experience will be undertaken in the courses: ACCT2288 Financial Advisory Practice, ACCT1081 Professional Values, Ethics and Attitudes and ACCT1028 Performance Analysis and Simulations to provide opportunities for you to apply knowledge and skill gained throughout your degree.As an accounting and financial planning professional you will be able to occupy roles in stockbroking, funds management, insurance and risk, superannuation, and in other private sector or government organisations which have a requirement for high level, technical expertise in the financial planning area.Accreditation for this program is being sought from FPA Australia, CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).

Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management

The Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management program provides you with critical and broad ranging studies that enable you to enter graduate positions in Tourism and Hospitality administration and management. To achieve this, you will be exposed to the critical evaluation of knowledge underpinning local and international tourism strategies and practices, regulatory bodies and frameworks, management strategies and skills, cultural studies as well as crisis and risk management.The courses are taught via face to face delivery methods and require student attendance on campus. The methods will include tutorial discussions, group work, problem-based learning, guest lectures, case studies, role-playing, simulations, shadowing managers, etc. You will also be exposed to Work Integrated Learning approaches and curriculum that includes an internship program providing you with the opportunity to apply your knowledge and analysis techniques directly as you engage and work with professionals in the industry.Additionally, you will be encouraged to undertake RMIT University Vietnam’s Personal Edge Workshops which are focused on developing the soft skills required for a successful career in industry.The program will also include a capstone experience course in the form of a project that draws upon the knowledge and critical analysis skills developed in previous courses within the program. Students will be required to demonstrate an understanding of relevant theory and practice covered during the program and provide solutions to issues in the tourism and hospitality industry. Your internship also provides a capstone experience, where you will be required to reflect on how the knowledge and skills acquired in your previous courses apply to your practical experience.The first eight courses of the program contain English language for Business studies content that is designed to enhance your English language proficiency to a level that is appropriate for managers and administrators within the international tourism and hospitality industry.

This program, BP309 Bachelor of Design (Digital Media), offers you a degree in the design and production of digital media. It combines theory with practical industry-based knowledge and professional skills in the broad field of digital media design and development. In the program you will develop a digital media design specialisation in either interactive media, digital video, digital sound or digital environments.With a clear focus on design, the program provides you with opportunities to explore diverse aspects of digital media. You will gain a contextual overview of the role of digital media in society and a strong grounding in digital media literacy. You will explore aspects such as:web and app design visual effects, compositing and motion graphics interactive mobile media design sound design virtual reality and augmented reality projection and digital installationsYou will experience a variety of interactive learning and teaching approaches. Your management courses give you a broad base of business management understanding. The Applied Science component allows you to specialise in one of the following majors:Biology Biotechnology Chemistry PhysicsThese four major specialisations can be individualised to an extent by taking other science courses offered by the School of Science. This allows you a degree of flexibility to combine a major field of study with a variety of other science courses to help achieve your professional and academic goals. You will also have the option of completing the Applied Science/Business (Management) double degree program with a major by transferring to a discipline specific program title. The common first year courses taken with other students in the Applied Science discipline will ensure that you establish a foundation of academic experience across many fields of science. This breadth of experience will enhance your employability and also enable you to make an informed decision on the manner in which you wish to individualise your program of study.Science Project (ONPS2186) serves as a capstone experience in which you will be encouraged to undertake a project in a lab/work simulated environment within your selected major.The Professional Scientist (ONPS2335) serves as a capstone project, where you will be working in teams. This involves working in a relevant industry context in which your team will be provided feedback from industry counterparts.This program is delivered on campus, though some courses may be available online.

Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sport Science)

In addition to an increased involvement of graduates in the sports industry as coaches, advisors and analysts, the growth of Australia’s aging population and an increase in our sedentary lifestyle is creating a need for more expertise in the health sector. The Exercise and Sport Science program at RMIT can prepare you for a career in both the sport performance and healthy exercise industries.In a sporting context, sport scientists will work alongside support staff and coaches to assess and improve fitness (physiology) and skills using biomechanics and motor skill assessments.In a health setting, accredited exercise physiologists can work alongside other health professionals such as physiotherapists, providing expertise on what exercise will benefit a person and designing their workout program. This can be for those recovering in hospital from musculoskeletal injuries, heart attacks, or other conditions. People may also be referred to an exercise physiologist by a general practitioner as part of a strategy to reduce their risk of suffering from disease.The program provides you with the fundamental knowledge required to understand the physical, mental and social aspects of exercise for sport, health, recreation and rehabilitation. During the program, you will complete a minimum of 140 hours of work-integrated learning (WIL). These placements can be in recreation centres, sports teams, rehabilitation clinics and research units. The structure of the program means that you will develop the knowledge and skills that you require to become an effective sport and exercise scientist and enables you to apply these skills in the later part of the program through your capstone placements courses (OHTH2115 Human Movement Field Experience and OHTH2116 Advanced Performance Analysis and Prescription). Such placements enable you to prepare for and facilitate your transition from student to practitioner.This program is delivered face-to-face and includes web-based learning components. It requires on campus attendance in either full time or part time mode.

Bachelor of Criminology and Psychology

Graduates of the program will be equipped to enter a career in fields including policing, corrections, child protection, youth justice, victim advocacy and welfare services.For those wishing to pursue postgraduate education, the degree also provides a sound academic foundation for specialist studies in clinical, educational, organisational, developmental or forensic psychology, as well as postgraduate studies in criminology, criminal justice and legal studies.Program design emphasises fieldwork, collaborative work, and applied research and development. Program design also ensures you will develop the skills and knowledge required to prepare you for professional practice.Course design ensures you will work independently and collaboratively, including in cross disciplinary teams as you develop the professional knowledge and skills required to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. You will apply your knowledge of relevant theory and practices working within an enhanced ethical framework.A capstone experience is provided through the SOCU2253 Criminal Behaviour Analysis course through which you will integrate and synthesise your knowledge across both criminology and psychology, connect theory to practice, and demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes.Successful completion of this program provides a pathway into honours and postgraduate study in either psychology or criminology. Upon successful completion of this program you may also be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University.

Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology)/Bachelor of Biomedical Science

The objective of this program is to provide students with a competitive edge over single degree students. You will acquire the skills to work in the health professions, in Biotechnology and Biomedical research, or to progress to further study. You will complete studies in Cell Biology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Biology including Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics and Proteomics. Additionally students may chose from the science electives which include Anatomy, Neuroscience, Cardiovacular Biology, Applied Biochemistry, Industrial Microbiology, Medicinal Chemistry, and Laboratory and Fieldwork Safety, amongst others.This program has two capstone, WIL (work integrated learning) courses: The Science Project (ONPS2186) which involves either an industry placement or an industry-suggested project in a simulated work environment, and Practical Biomedical Science (BIOL2357) where you will be assessed on professional or vocational work in a work place setting (real or simulated) and receive feedback from those involved in your industry.In addition to a fundamental understanding of Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences, at the completion of the degree you should have an understanding of the research process and have experience in modern technologies in Biotechnology and Biomedical research. This is achieved by the combination of basic and advanced knowledge and extensive 'hands-on' techniques taught in the program.This program draws upon the strengths of two schools, the School of Science and the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences. Students enrolled in the Double Degree will have the opportunity to develop the cability to apply scientific principles and practice in commercial enterprises, testing authorities and research establishments in a safe and environmentally and socially responsible manner.The courses for this program are taught face to face at the RMIT City and Bundoora campuses.
