After completing this diploma at Torrens, you have the option to upgrade your qualification to a Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling) at Jansen Newman Institute. Students are eligible for membership with the ACA. You can join as a student member, and on completion of the course you can become a provisional member; after 12 months as a provisional member you can become a full level-1 member. It also means you can go onto The Australian Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (RCAP). All level-1 members automatically are registered against RCAP. Upon graduation, you can choose to build on your knowledge and enroll in the Bachelor of Counselling where you will receive credit for the Diploma course.

The Diploma of Event Management course is available on our Sydney and Brisbane campuses. It is also available as an online course and can be completed in one to two years, depending on your study options. This program has been specifically designed to provide graduates with a broad base of generalist marketing knowledge and skills suitable both for entry-level employment in marketing roles and/or as a platform for further specialised study at Bachelor level.

The Associate Degree of Culinary Management has been designed to equip you with specialist knowledge. By studying this course you will receive the practical skills required to find employment as a chef or other culinary professional, as well as a solid foundation of business subjects that will allow you to be a successful business owner or manager in the hospitality industry.

Our Diploma of Marketing is designed to integrate theory, practice and connection with each of these themes in turn representing distinct modes of thinking, enquiry and knowledge acquisition in relation to marketing. Students explore underpinning theoretical constructs that inform marketing practice; students engage in practice both in simulated marketing workplace roles and in operating businesses; and they reflect on feedback from industry mentors and assessors.

The Diploma of Graphic Design gives you the insights and skills to explore the theory, practice and human connection of graphic design, and respond to the world’s visually literate society. In discussion with other students and guided by industry leaders, you’ll examine the role of graphic design in a time when sight has perhaps become the dominant sense. We are attuned to the visual. Throughout the course, you’ll challenge the conventions of current graphic design ideas and deliver engaging, appropriate and original solutions for everything from point-of-sale material to books and billboards. You’ll learn about design history and principles, ideas generation, brand identity, typography, design research, and user experience. By examining logos, symbols and brands you’ll have the opportunity to design your own unique brand and workshop it with other students, so you start to see your designs through the eyes of others. You’ll also gain the skills to use industry standard graphic design software with confidence and flair. The design work you do throughout the course will contribute to your professional portfolio – your passport to an exciting design career.
